Weekend Action: from Drenthe to Kuyt…

Roma goalie Stekelenburg
Well, quite a weekend. Too weird for words.
Kenny leaving Kuyt off. Rooney doing a Beckham penalty. Torres missing one complete sitter, missing another relatively easy chance and scoring a beauty. Van der Vaart coming off the bench. Drenthe coming off. Heitinga staying on. Two goal keepers in hospital. Berbatov missing a sitter. Rooney missing a sitter ( post). Referees getting it wrong… Wenger getting it wrong… Oh, hang on. Forget the last comment. That’s actually pretty normal.
Is it comet Elenin?
It was an interesting one though. Further confirmation that Man United is the team to beat this year (I say this despite the 8-0 win of Barca). It doesn’t matter who they play. SAF has constructed another wonderful squad. Hats off.
Dalglish seems to favor Carroll over Kuyt for now. The only reason I would play the wooden man, is to hope he scores a couple so you can sell him to Fulham, Sunderland or Norwich. I think the guy’s hopeless. Compare him with the very able and skilled Adabayor ( yes, I think he’s a dick too, but he can play!) and you know what I mean.
I thought Spurs were kind to Liverpool, although I also think the first yellow Charlie Adam received was unjust. What was Skertl doing in this game though?
Watched Arsenal in complete horror. It’s almost Comedy Capers what’s going on there. I believe Arsene should take full responsibility.
Roberto Mancini showed his true colors trying to defend the 2-0 lead over Fulham by subbing Silva in favour of a more defending option. And Jol’s team drew level.
Drenthe scored his first. Always nice when the pressure is off.
Michel Vorm impressed yet again.
Poor Stekelenburg has a serious concussion but no real risk anymore. Lucio is the one with the brain damage. Poor ol’ PSV goalie Tyton same thing, heavy collision with a sliding defender and 15 minutes of treatment on the pitch. The poor goalie left the hospital yesterday and was a lucky boy.
Talking about PSV-Ajax. That was the high light of the week for me. As we got to see many good young Dutch players. Most on the blog know I don’t like PSV as a club, but they have done well keeping Strootman, Pieters and Wijnaldum in Holland and I love that little Mertens too. I was impressed with the former Groningen striker Matavz (?) but I don’t think he’s Dutch so….

PSV goalie Tyton
PSV could have and should have won this one. Ajax played slow, predictable and sluggish. The two center backs missed the Frank de Boer flair of old, this time around, and Theo Janssen in my view is not used in the right way. Janssen should be the “Number 10″ and not be used as defensive midfielder. He is too slow for that. I believe Janssen is a great player but not at Ajax…
Ajax lacked a player with movement and dribbling skills to upset the forward pressuring of PSV. PSV actually played well. Hungry, motivated and with the will to win. Ajax had serious problems with that in the start of the game. If you miss Sulejmani and Ebecilio, you do need to compensate. Sighthorsson, Siem de Jong, Boerrigter, they all lack the individual magic you need in games like this. I expected some Ajax 2 youngsters to come in and dazzle but Frank de Boer opted for the Hulk like Bulykin.
And Frank is a better coach than I am, as the former Russian international did score the equaliser.
Some comments on PSV: Wijnaldum was ok, Strootman was excellent, Lens was hot and cold but Toivonen was absolutely invisible!
Some comments on Ajax: Daley Blind is a good center half but is lacking as full back ( speed). Greg van der Wiel had a difficult game against Mertens. Siem de Jong was invisible too.
Feyenoord had a pleasant day in De Kuip, winning 4-0 after a 0-0 against De Graafschap. New signing John Guidetti scored again. Feyenoord was the leader this weekend, until FC Twente humiliated ADO Den Haag, with 5-2. Co Adriaanse’s team is now the proud leader.

Damn, Afellay tore knee ligaments on training. Bloody Messi must have given him a bloody kick on the knee, fearing for his position in the team!!
Ibi is 6 months out. That is BAD news for the lad.
Ricky van Haaren is a question mark. He is a good player, but does he have the grit, the will, the mental strength to better himself every day. He could become as good as….I don’t know…Schaars or De Zeeuw? That level?
Braafheid plays well at Hoffenheim. Many assists. Plays like a winger again.
No joke:
Blatant dive by referee

Crazy refs. Maybe they have seen so much diving and play acting, it just seems normal.
Bad news about Afellay. six months out, hopefully he will be peaking for the euro next year.
tomorrow we’ll know more about his injury, but it seems he’ll be sidelined until april

BTW, not to stur things up but im playing on FIFA 11 with Sneijder and Maher as two main creative pawns and De Guzman controlling in the punt naar achteren. :p
V.Persie
Elia – Sneijder – Maher – Robben
De Guzman
I have to admit, its working perfectly, every match Sneijder and Maher get like 9-9,5 ratings, haha they’re the core of my team now.. hell ive never played this game so easily xD Could Maher be my messiah against 0-0 scores lol

@ Alex…how did you get Maher onto the same team as Sneijder? On Inter?
MY best fifa11 player actually is beerens. he is an assist machine. i curently have him on my stoke city team, which is going mediocre, but he put in over 20 assists…his crosses always are on target and is speedy down the wing.
and whats ur usertag? im pawlyb…lets rock.
…
@Fares, thanks for your excellent analysis. I am relieved that I have not forgotten my French after 26 years in the US so I could readily enjoy your comments. But may I ask why the French?
you are welcome my friend.
Merci encore cher ami.
Afellay out for SIX months???? OOOOh man that’s bad news!!! both for the national team and for him.
i still remember a young player who was injured the whole season and returned for the european championship, then lead his nation to victory

Watch this space!

What is going on? Last time I checked, there is a French Blog.
I prefer to use google translate for dutch articles, copying and pasting these new french comments is needlessly complicated.
Hello my friends:
About BVM need to renew the team: I know BVM has and excellent wining record (just lost the wc final… fuck) but he has to think not only in EC 2012, but WC 2014. So, he has to give chances to young players, to create a balance team for the WC 2014.
That not means BvM should call all the potential kids…
About Affelay: It`s a very sab new.. a total shame… I hope he recover soon. I think Wijnaldum should take this opportunity to shine in Orange. I think Wijnaldum is a natural Affelay substitute in the national team….
Tamata: I just saw him play once and frankly, he is very immature… he is not ready to play in PSV at all, and neither in Orange
It’s a point of pride in Nederland that one must know and be conversant in other languages. In addition, one must be accepting and happy about every opportunity to practice another language.
Merci.
Et Merde de la blessure d’Affley

Too bad for Afellay at least now we have Wijnaldum and it seems like Babel and Drenthe can be also make their come backs to top football!
Ferenc, I knew we had a lot in common from the football standpoint and now we can add the fact we share the same opinion about France! Et en plus on peut parler Francais.
Bruma scored today so perhaps a revival for him and Hamburg. Plus the return of Castelen which I am sure made Tiju very happy.
Match enorme.
Ferenc, Fares and Gullaume vB: on pourrait creer le groupe francophone (or whatever) supporteur de la Hollande ou des Pays-Bas (officiellement).
Thank you for such a fantastic blog. Where else could anyone get that kind of info written in such a perfect way? I have a presentation that I am presently working on, and I have been on the look out for such information
