Van Marwijk wants to talk Oranje, fans don’t…

oranje elia

There’s a multitude of opinions about De Jong. Manchester City thinks Van Marwijk uses De Jong to score internationally after the worldwide media called Oranje dirty. Johan Cruyff thinks Van Marwijk did well to rule De Jong out. In the meantime, Bert tries to prepare his team for the third EC qualification in and against Moldavia. He speaks about the De Jong case one more time.

“Nigel went too far. I spoke to him about this many times. He keeps on crossing the line. And it’s sad because there’s only losers in this situation. Ben Arfa broke his leg, De Jong is upset and disappointed and I miss a player in great form.”

Van Marwijk saw the foul and made up his mind. “I couldn’t accept it. I needed to keep the interest of Oranje key in this and I could see what would happen in the run up to the Moldavia and Sweden game. But I don’t want to talk about De Jong anymore. I’ll meet with him after Sweden.”

It seems Van Marwijk will use this situation to link Rafael van der Vaart to Mark van Bommel, allowing the Spurs hero to build up from the back.

The Holland coach spoke at length with the 85 times capped international who is already one of the fan faves in London. The playmaker was irritated last month when he was subbed for the 17th time in a row. “Why is it always me,” he questioned Van Marwijk’s decisions. “Even if I play well, the coach subs me.”

Van Marwijk emphasises he had a very good meeting with Van der Vaart, but “I won’t tell you now whether he’ll play centrally,” said the coach who also has Afellay, de Zeeuw and Schaars at his dispolal. The Holland coach also misses Robben and Robin van Persie while Elia left the trainings camp today to go back to Hamburg. He needs more treatment on this heel-injury and can’t play for Holland.

“Some others ( Sneijder, Heitinga, Kuyt) aren’t 100% fit and suffer little pains and knocks. The World Cup has left us with quite a inheritance. It’s not strange that Liverpool and Bayern have a slow start. But, we need to beat Moldavia, it’s as simple as that. But they have a fanatical fan base and a bad pitch. It won’t be an easy game for us.”

fans

Supporters aren’t warming up to Oranje as yet. The second home game for the EC qualifications ( against Sweden) isn’t sold out yet. There’s room for 50.000 people and the KNVB has sold only 40.000 tickets.

Against Finland, the runners up of the World Cup only pulled 30.000 people in. It’s not clear whether the limited interest is a result of Oranje’s “businesslike” football style or a result of the global financial crisis.

Jad

I think the main reason is,they’re scared of never making it to the starting 11 of Oranje.Playing for Morocco guarantees them starting berths.

Football and politics:

Look this amazing video!

Is the Bolivia´s “president” (in fact is a dictator, as my “president” Chavez is) playing football.

This video demonstrates how cowards these kinds of people are.

Look how this COUNTRY PRESIDENT kick´s the opponent in his balls, and don’t receive a yellow or red card..

Ciftci, Özyakup, Bouy, Barazite, Koc, Maguir, Maher, Martins Indi, Castaignos, V.Overbeek, Kongolo, O.John, Isoufi, Cabral, perhaps David are eligible for teams from Turkey, Morocco, Cape Verdia, Portugal, France, Angola, Surinam, Afghanistan, Liberia and Ireland, and that’s not the last of them.

Just bothers me that there is really poaching going on from other national teams…

Maybe the irruption of Geert Wilders in the dutch politics has caused this, I dont know.

Anyway, this topic has vital relevance I think. Its about the dutch national team future that we are talking about, and I will show you why.

The Netherlands under 16

1. Blij
2. Hoogendorp (American roots)
3. Walsh
4. Ake (American roots)
5 Cicek (Turk)
6. Haye
7. Sanoh (Ivory Coast)
8. Trindade (Angola)
9 Van den Boomen
1o. Mahmoed (Irak)
11. Kishna (Republic of India)

Netherlands under 17:

1. De Jong
2. Ramlal (Indonesie)
3. Disveld
4. Rekik (Morocco)
5. Willems (American roots)
6. Horsten
7. Van Oberveek (Angola)
8. Ebecilio (American roots)
9. Toorenburg
10. Tannane (Morocco)
11. Memphis Depay (I dont Know)

Netherlands under 18

1. Verhulst
2. Dengering
3. Van Huygevoort
4. Denswill (American roots)
5. Dijks
6. Maher (Morocco)
7. Labyad (Morocco)
8. Gurkan (Davids) (Turk)
9. Locadia (American roots)
10. Boay (Morocco)
11. Manu (American roots)

Netherlands under 19:

1. Han (American roots)
2. Ligeon (American roots)
3. De Vrij
4. Martins Indi (Cape Verde, Portugal)
5 Wijnaldum (American roots)
6 Ozyakup (Turk)
7 Isoufi/Lukoki/Ciftci (Afghanistan/Congo/Turk)
8. Rashid (Irak)
9. Castaignos (France, Italian, Cape Verde)
10 van Ginkel
11. John (Liberia)

If you want you can check this names in the Holland FA (Onsoranje.nl)
- Dutch: 14
- foreigners roots: 30

As you can see the future of the Netherland soccer team could be disastrous after the Robben, Sneijder generation, if the Knvb dont take seriusly this topic. Maybe the prohibition of two passports can be the solution.

I think most of the players who have real potential for oranje but also could play for countries like India, Cape Verde, Angola etc. will always try for oranje first and not switch before they would absolutely and defenitaly know they have no shot in oranje.. But the players with Moroccan, Turkish, French, Italian and other european roots(Bosnian and Serbian often also feel strongest) where the teams actually have potential… it’s risky.
Depay is I thought of Indian roots.
But anyways, the problem with the talented players is mostly with the countries that have set dual nationality, especially Turkey and Morocco. It gives these guy an artificial link with the country and does nothing but bring money into Morocco, most of the guys only go on holidays there, nothing else..In Morocco itself though, these “foreigners” are not looked upon too well..they’re raised in a very different environment.. I personally find dual nationality ridiculous, every other person has to give up their old nationality when they become citizens of another country. Why don’t they, if we would have done that, we could select all kinds of players from America, Canada, Australia, South-Africa etc.

If there’s one thing that EU should try to get done, than it’s getting rid of dual nationality/passports.

Actually Finn.. :P let’s say Kishna is Dutch, I mean, putting people into boxes because they had some ancestors in other countries will not help them want to play for oranje or feel Dutch :) think positive, lol

BTW Bert has been busy and on a meeting of coaches he suggested to be able to use 4 substitutes, at least in qualification matches and have all european competitions run at the same time instead of summer and winter competitions… Apparently, Bluffer Bert got a lot of positive response from the other (national) coaches…they liked his ideas it seems..

BTW Should Douglas become Dutch, whe should give him a Dutch name.
His name is Douglas Franco Teixeira.
Douglas is fine, Franco=Frank/Franciscus, Teixeira can be from Portuguese/Spanish word for a type of Taxus plant/tree called Teixo. In Dutch that’s the Venijnboom.
So in either order
Douglas Frank(Franciscus) Venijn haha, or
Frank(Franciscus)Venijn Douglas

@ Alex and others about the nature of dual citizenship

I agree on many points with you. Certainly, the Italians love that idea, having no “foreigners” in their national team, but many Italians are very nationalistic in their views, u see where i’m getting at? I’m not suggesting that we should mimic the Italians, just saying that we should somehow develop and actually keep players in domestic leagues.
