Janmaat (b. 1989) plays for Heerenveen, was brought in to replace Zuiverloon. After a nice run up with ADO last year, he was one of the hottest youth properties in this past summer’s transfer market. He was recently called up to the U21 team. Skills-wise, he looks great. But needless to say, he is inexperienced, he needs lot more matches under his belt. I’d say give him 2-3 years, hopefully he turns out good.

Who in JC’s name is Daryl Janmaat ?? Why haven’t I heard of him?

Daryl Janmaat. I think he’ll do better than Zuiverloon in the long term. Oranje future back 4 is: Janmaat (RB), Marcellis and Donk (CD), and Pieters (LB).

i think that de jong has been performing well (if not consistenly) in the defensive midfield spot since he started there in the EC, so i don’t think that it makes sense to move him back just to move another player (heitinga) up, at least not until other options are explored first. I think that of the right backs that we’ve seen in oranje recently, melchiot was the best and that would free up Heitinga, who is our best centre back, to play in the centre of the defence. Nothing against zuiverloon, he’ll eventually play in oranje but for now he still has to prove himself in the EPL before he can be considered a senior international.

agree with Caleb, Melchiot did fine

@M-O; deJong started as rightback with Ajax if im not mistaken .. hes always an option but think it would be hard to motivate him

I liked Melchiot as the right back, and he performs well there every week at Wigan. But I think I might be the only person who thinks that…

Schaars or De Zeeuw as holding midfielders.
Timmer is a fine second goalie, I think.
Van Bommel as central defender.
Or Boulah could move centrally with Kromkamp as right back.

It’s not that bad, really.
