Ex-PSVer Ernest Faber new Oranje assistant

Faber
Ernest Faber, new assistant to Bert… Ernie and Bert….

Bert van Marwijk announced the new squad for the upcoming match vs Sweden and appointed a new assistant coach.

Ernest Faber is the man. The ex PSV defender and one time international is currently the head coach of Eindhoven. Faber will take over from Frank de Boer, who doesn’t have time anymore now he’s Ajax’ new strong man.

Faber ( 39) will assist Van Marwijk alongside PSV assistant coach Phillip Cocu and Cooky Voorn.

Faber played for NEC, Sparta, FC Groningen and PSV Eindhoven. He won four titles with PSC and he played for Oranje in 1998 under Hiddink, in a friendly versus Mexico. Oranje won 3-2.

After his active career, Faber worked as youth coach at PSV, presiding over Young PSV and the A-juniors. He moved to Eindhoven where he’s currently the head coach.

de boer bert
Bert and Frank split up but they still exchange fashion tips…

Van Marwijk didn’t select Robben. “Arjen isn’t ready yet. He just made his return in Bayern and played his first match recently. It wouldn’t be responsible to select him.”

Nigel de Jong is back in Oranje. The Man City midfielder was left out of the squad a number of times because of his highly publicised fouls, like the leg break of Stuart Holden, the Karate Kid Kick vs Xabi Alonso in South Africa and the challenge on Ben Arfa.

Bert van Marwijk used Raf van der Vaart on De Jong’s spot and he played strong games for Oranje, but Van Marwijk did promise to get Nigel back in and he keeps the promise.

Van Marwijk also rewarded to Eredivisie players with an invite. Twente player Luuk de Jong ( not related to Nigel but brother of Siem) who can look back at a good series and Kevin Strootman, who impressed against Ajax for FC Utrecht. Strootman came over from Sparta in the winter break.

stroot
Strootman: “It’s about time I’m called up. I was wondering…what does one need to do to get some attention?”

Strootman heard a couple of hours before the cup game vs Groningen (won by Utrecht) that he was pre-selected for Oranje.

Suddenly he received dozens of text-messages and missed call messages on his mobile. The 20 year old was hot. “I’m overwhelmed, if you look at all those names and you see your name amongst it… It’s quite something. I’m still in shock!”

Strootman was seen as a big talent at Sparta but somehow the bigger clubs allowed him to play for relegated Sparta until Utrecht pounced. Since his move, he plays as if he’s been with Utrecht for years. Last weekend, he was MOTM against Ajax.

Utrecht technical director Foeke Booy had a chat with Van Marwijk. “The team manager was extremely impressed. Strootman has that rare quality of being able to read the game and to put massive energy into taking the game on. Van Marwijk recognized those qualities… It’s great for him and for Utrecht that we have another international in our team.”

And on top of that (sorry about so many posts but I have a lot of thoughts about this ever since I heard the first rumor and didn’t post any of them), Kuyt said last year before the WC that he plays better the more games he gets to play, so if the reverse is also true…

He will definitely not get more games out of this move.

And if it now turns out they suddenly have 26.5 million to spent…I consider them pretty asleep when VDV was available for 10 (reading all the excuses that they couldn’t get him because they didn’t have the finances, tsk!).

But I already felt that way about pretty much all the ones who didn’t do everything they could to get him (in particular Arsenal which I was hoping for). He’s easily worth over 20 million.

Ah well, all I can hope for is Tottenham beating Milan and it’ll all be worth it. :)

Now Suarez left, we need to make us a few questions:

Who will play instead Suarez?? We will still using Ebecilio-S. de Jon-Sulejmani?

Why De Boer prefer Siem de Jong instead Hamadoui like central striker?

I don´t know why, but I don´t trust in Hamadaoui.

After Ajax-Feyenoord De Boer said:

“We need someone like Luis Suarez if we want to be champion,’ … ‘That is why we won’t let him go to Liverpool. But we have won four matches without him.’

And now he left…. We will be champion?

@ Eduardo
Rumors are still just rumors, there is not even a legitimate quote in that goal .com article…

@Alex- I think even before his injury (IIRC, it was against L’pool in UEFA cup when he was hurt), Van Wolfswinkel had already been struggling to find the net. I may be wrong, can’t be sure without looking at the match facts. But, at any rate, you’re absolutely right, he can’t do anything right if he’s not on the pitch.. :)

Anyway, back to topic, I wonder if FdB will promote Castillion from Jong Ajax. I’m very curious to see this kid in action. Though, I’ve been intrigued with experiment Siem De Jong as central striker.

When van Basten was in charge, he was very careful to protect Castillion from being snatched up by other clubs. Nice to see if he will get a chance to make the first team. De Boer seems to be more likely to give him the opportunity than Jol ever did

Castillion got offer for long term contract extension lately.

Short vid about him, some footage of Young Ajax.

I heard from some sources he’s had some tough times personally or something, which is why he hasnt been very prominent.
I’d hope he gets a chance before they buy a striker.

The last 3 Liverpool managers have put Kuyt’s name on the starters list 2nd after Stevie G. many including me wonder why these Expert Managers ALWAYS field Kuyt and the answer is simple. He plays for 2 people he tracks back and defends, attacks.sets up and also scores. A duracell bunny. Suarez is not going to put Kuyt on the bench. and as someone said here, Torres is probably Chelsea bound. I copied this post from an email i received from Tiju !

I have to agree with Carlos – until Kuyt slows down sometime in the future – he will always be a serious consideration for a starter…

To be honest, if I was Liverpool manager and told I have to sell Torres or Kuyt, it would be a simple decision.

Kuyt actually is Liverpool through and through. Torres is so-so on that front.

Torres may very well be the better and more gifted player, but just like Oranje or when you go to war, you have to depend on someone.

If I had to go to war and I could only pick one man, I would pick Dirk Kuyt every time. He is the modern day’s Neeskens. Someone has to do the dirty work. Nigel De Jong could do some of it, but he is too much of a loose cannon and the refs are after him.

I think it is high time Kuyt gets a bit of credit.

Torres has handed in a transfer request, which Liverpool has rejected.

@ Finnster. Sure, sure, lets give Kuyt some credit. He works hard, scores goal, dies for the team, blah blah blah.

Let me tell you about this other kid. Plays for Arsenal. Wicked left foot, just coming into great form, pure class. Lets give HIM credit.

Carlos buddy i i ahve not sent an email..but i am glad to know that you got a mail like that…Liverpool situtation is different from previous year…After benitz departure it is clear that kuyt days are numbered in Pool.Torres is so gifted and he will benifit from suarez ,i expect lot of goals from Torres with the help of suarez..Liverpool fans are moaning about the wing play and they demanded for that…No matter how much works kuyt does…Xavi ,ineasta,Villa,Pique,Vanpersie,Puyol,Deguzman,Dejong, fabergas,Alex song, afaleey all works so hard like kuyt…it true..i can say that Players like CR7,Roben,or znijder may not work like kuyt..Liverpool players has some hardworking players in Gerrad,Maxi, etc….Except Torres,Lazy babel and Ngog…that is kuyt played as a starter in all matches. Now there is no more babel and co….so kuyt has to worry..but he is a lucky guy…i think torres will follow Babel’s foots and kuyt may get good chance..

In the end we can all make an estimated guess as to whether or not Kuyt is going to lose more starting opportunities, but we will know on Wednesday what Dalglish (or Dalgish, whatever) will do against Stoke. If Suarez has arrived by then that is.

And I’ll be watching that line-up with keen interest ready for my “I told you so”. And if Kuyt is playing and Suarez on the bench, then Carlos can throw his “I told you so” right back at me. ;)

Personally, I don’t completely believe Kuyt when he says he gets better with the more games he plays (not in the way he means it, that he benefits more from it than other players like VDV or Elia, the ones who had to sit on the bench to make room for him in the WC), so I don’t even think it’s that much of a problem for him. I think he just said that because he wanted to play at the WC, which I don’t blame him for of course. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to blame him for anything here, not for benching VDV or Elia, and certainly not for his WC performance. In the end, it’s not him making that decision anyway. And Bert used him in the right way, which is more important for me than anything else (that’s the part I was most impressed with, Bert, Philip and Frank new their players well, and how to use them).

I read that article on Torres, it seems to me if he’s moving that it will be at the end of the season, but who knows.

In short, it’s time for a Kuyt hattrick, or at least a brace. :) Assists count as goals. 3 assists is a hattrick.

Go Kuyt! I command you.

Oh, btw, I personally like Suarez on the leftwing, cutting in and curling his balls towards the far post. He scored a beauty that way in the WC.

Who knows, maybe Daglish is thinking the same thing.

Oh, and if Kuyt and Suarez are both playing as well as Torres and Gerrard, then we can all stop worrying and enjoy the fireworks.

If Kuyt moves back to a more midfield area (def.midfield) then I’ll jump a hole in the air out of joy. Cause that’s where I’ve been wanting to see him tried out since 2009.
