Bavaria Babes arrested in South Africa! Apartheid revisited…

Football has become big business. Why else would we play with this horrible beach ball? Wasn’t the ball we had 4 years back good enough? Or 8 years back? Etc etc. And did you pick up the fact that only Nike supported players complained about the ball? None of the Adidas dudes did?

bavaria 1

So, when Bavaria – competitor to big sponsor Heineken – decided to come out with a nice guerilla event – the short orange dress for bombshells – the FIFA did what every hot blooded guy would do: they arrested the Bavaria Babes. I’m not kiddin’!

The gals were taken to the police station for questioning! For hours! FIFA calls it a marketing trap. And the interesting thing is, it doesn’t say “Bavaria” on the dress, anywhere!

Barbara Kastein, one of the 36 babes: “We were in the stadium, having fun. Singing and we were being photographed. And then in the second half, this FIFA dude came up to us and said we weren’t allowed to wear the Bavaria dresses in the stadium. He gave us a choice: go voluntarily or else the police would be ordered to arrest us.’

bav2

“I told the guy that they couldn’t do that on the basis of our dresses but 40 stewards surrounded us and pushed us and pulled us off the stands. One of the girls fell of the stairs, even!”.

Some of the girls were questioned for hours and all the passports were taken. “One offices told us that we could be charged and jailed for six months! For wearing an orange dress!”.

bav3

Bavaria CEO Peer Swinkels thinks the FIFA acted insanely. “Those are cute dresses and don’t carry a brand name. People can wear Ralph Lauren clothes without a problem but our dress is banned? Where does it say that the FIFA can control what people wear?”

I sincerely hope Bavaria sues the FIFA bastards.

Also, Robben has said he doesn’t expect to play in the group stage, but he thinks he will be there in the knockout stages.

Another great rumour, Bayern are considering to swap Klose for Huntelaar. That would be a great choice for Klaas, Bayern with Robbery create so many chances, typical football for Huntelaar, lost of chances for him means lots of goals. Could be the perfect step for him instead of staying in the old and boring Milan team.

yh , i’d like to see the same line-up against Japan . However i’d like to see Elia coming instead of de jong , and see how will vdv perform with van bommel in the holding mid. position .

@ Alex ,

BTW there’s a great add, where Pele gets on the field again cause he wants to score his final goal for Brazil xD One of the few great football videos in recent times in my mind, not considering Nike’s ads. :P

Coming back to one of my comments on Cruijff, what if cloning would be possible, imagine the greats making a clone comeback, Maradona, Pele, Cruijff, Beckenbauer :)
Sounds like true clone wars. xD

@Alex ,
agree with you about Huntelaar- Bayern move , however not sure Bayern would like this transfer .
Well , actually klose scored an incredible against Ghana !
If he played good for Germany in this tournament , i don’t think Bayern will let him go .

Oh, and Mourinho sees Drenthe as an important part of the Madrid selection and reportedly wants to keep him at Real. The special (crazy) one forsees a role at leftback for Drenthe, well maybe Mou can get him to function as a proper LB, that would be great for the national team, no 19 year olds, no Braafheid, no Bouma or slow Pieters but explosive Royston Drenthe bombarding down the left. I might actually be grateful of a portuguese for the second time if he forms Drenthe into a class LWB(,the first time was because he finally turned Sneijder into a topclass midfielder). :)

Well, just for the record, I don’t expect anything from Drenthe so I can only be surprised xD

I’ve been wanting Ferguson to buy Elia even before he moved to Hamburg. He’s like Nani but with a footballing brain and would be absolutely perfect on the left side. Hope it happens.

I like your statements Alex, but I don’t think Mourinho turned Wes into a great midfielder. I think he was already pretty decent when he went to Inter. I don’t think Mourinho makes players better. Mourinho has no football background to start off with. He’s a good tactician and an even better people manager.

Mourinho also knows how to get under other coaches skin.

As much as I dislike the little fella, you’ve got to hand it to him. Not many young managers with his list of credits.

Wes was a good playmaker, but lacked a certain discipline, I feel Mourinho turned him into a real professional and gave him the chance to excell as the main playmaker for Inter. If he can do the same with Drenthe, which is, get him disciplined and give him the chance…. I was thinking along that lines. :P
If there’s anything Mourinho can do it’s make a team and players play disciplined, organised and defend well, something which could make Drenthe a good LB. But make no mistake, Mou has learned a great deal from V.Gaal, who actually has a reputation of pushing talented players towards greatness.

A smarter marketing move would be to turn to online marketing around the World Cup rather than stage a stunt like this. Budweiser is doing a great job with their Bud United campaign on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter: http://tinyurl.com/24ohqbx

Bavaria Beer can solve the vuvuzela problem. They just need to make the vuvuzela their official symbol and Budweiser will ensure the vuvuzela is banned from all stadiums.
