Oranje with Makaay meets US and Japan in Bejing

The team that won the Euro title in 2007
The Orange Olympics are in a group with Nigeria, the US and Japan at the upcoming Olympics in Bejing.
Oranje can’t be too unhappy, avoiding Olympic Champs Argentina, Brazil and strong outsider Cameroun.
Foppe de Haan’s team will start on August 7 against Nigeria, one day before the opening ceremonies. August 10 the US will be the opponent and Jpan will fce Oranje on August 13. The first two of the group will advance into the quarter finals.
Draw
Poule A: Serbia, Argentina, Australia & Ivory Coast
Poule B: Oranje, Nigeria, United Statest & Japan.
Poule C: China, Brazil, Belgium & New Zealand
Poule D: South-Korea, Honduras, Cameroun & Italy.
Roy Makaay will make himself available for the Olympics, if he’s fit of course. Feyenoord has granted him permission to miss the season’s preparation to support De Haan in his endeavours to win more gold.

Lol
Well… good with Makaay. There’s not a lot of good Dutch U23-strikers around.

Jan, I really like your vision of next season, but the only think that never changes, even in fantasy, is that AZ never wins anything!

I very much enjoyed watching the young Oranje team win the Euro 2007, for the second year in a row and in their home country as well. Foppe de Haan is my favorite of the Dutch coaches, and I hope the team has a successful Olympics. If they do win, my guess is that Foppe will retire. Why not, two successive Euro U-21s and an Olympic gold? Also, as Olympic television coverage of football has not been very good here in the US, at least we should see the US-Netherlands match. Maybe the other matches will be viewable through the internet. HUP HOLLAND!

We are going to suck if we are taking makkay.thats it my comment for olympics
Remmeber the game orange Vs yugoslavia 2000 EC after cliverts susbs
if we not taking him we will be the no1 contenter for Olympics
makkay average is one goal/339 minutes
ha ha bla bla bla
of course he is better than dirk kuyt

Don’t forget Makaay was never used in Oranje on his strength. He either came on when things were already bleak or he was used as a winger in a 4-3-3 system. When he was used as striker in a more 4-4-2 system he scored!
Makaay and Oranje was never a happy marriage. With Foppe you will see Makaay flower (despite his age
). Foppe will play 4-4-2 and knows how to get under players’ skin in a positive way.

Makaay is a great option for the U21 team… we dont have a real striker in the U21 team at the moment so Makaay will be a postive addittion to the team…. think its also nice for Makaay as a person cause he never really had the change for glory in the ‘ big Oranje’…. to have Olympic games at the end of his career is very nice….also cause Makaay is just a nice guy without any attitude
