I guess I left out the obvious that they can also move on just by winning if either the USA or Nigeria wins/loses the match.

If USA and Nigeria draw, the US will move on, by virtue of the second tie breaker (goals scored). The first tiebreaker is goal difference. So basically, The Netherlands will move on if they either win by 2 goals, win their game and score 1 more goal than Nigeria (Nigeria must not win), or if they win their game and score 2 more goals than the USA (USA must not win).

I don't know what the next tiebraker is, so I can't go any further than that, but that is the basic idea.

Hey Jan, did you actually catch the Oranje game on Aussie TV? All I could see was the Olyroos or gymnastics. Maybe it was on Fox?

Jan, the way Australia played yesterday it would have beaten Oranje quite easily. I particularly liked the right back and they had some slick passing.
At least they had a committed defence and you saw midfielders asking for the ball. If that doesnt happen in a team, then the game is lost.

Last 10 minutes of our game all the boys at the back could do was heave ho big kick up the middle a/la English football. I guess the main reason being that they knew the midfield was NOT present.

Foppe needs a creative midfielder, Urby could be that person even de Guzman but they need to be available to collect the balls the way Sneijder/VdV always do...they always want the ball...... *sigh
