Babel: De Haan didn’t use the players right
The Olympics were a disappointment for the Dutch team. They survived a the groupstage with some difficulty and were defeated in the quarter finals by Argentina. Ryan Babel is still annoyed by that result. “Our group wasn’t tough. We had a clear way to the finals, but we ended up playing Argentina and didn’t make it past the last eight. It’s fair to say we didn’t do well.”
Babel showed some criticism towards Foppe de Haan. “I don’t think he used the players in the right way. And some of them didn’t stick to the specific training programmes.”
The Liverpool striker can’t understand the criticism by De Haan on Drenthe and Sno. “I haven’t seen or experienced anything by those two that deserved that criticism. I personally think De Haan’s remarks are basically his own disappointment.”
Babel feels De Haan is losing respect and support from his players by being so blunt in the press. “He always does that. He used to be like that when we played the EC in Holland. But we won that tournament and then you can sort of live with it and it doesn’t irritate as much. Now, we’ve lost and all those things start to have their effects.”
De Haan’s U21 team plays an important match tonight for the EC play offs. De Haan’s team only needs one point to qualify for the play offs. If Oranje U21 loses, they need to hope for a position amongst the “best numbers 2″.
De Haan stated that he’ll play 4-3-3 and will go full on the offence. “Playing for a draw is like trying to walk on a tightrope. It doesn’t work for us.”

Well de Haan won’t be able to defend his title as our u-21 team lost to Switzerland, and won’t be in the tournament. We let in another late goal, like the one against Norway which ended up 1-1, and an earlier one to Switzerland which was also a draw. After 5 straight wins, we got 2 draws and a loss and fell out.

Sorry the earlier one to Switzerland made us lose, so it was W-W-W-W-W-L-D-L

Drenthe is still ridiculous and childish for making everyone wait while he bought a watch. And they both- he and Sno- played like garbage so I can see why De Haan was upset, but maybe he’s not the right choice for these new-style Dutch players. Now, he’ll be out most likely.
