Rijkaard wants Barca to go full throttle!

Dark look on Frank’s face…

Frank Rijkaard played his second-tier team last weekend in La Liga and dropped points again. It seems Barca kissed the title goodbye in their hearts and minds and will focus fully on the CL finals.

Last week, a dominating Barca couldn’t score against a defensive and tightly playing Man United. Sir Alex copped some criticism for his negative approach, but according to football law (or lore) the Reds have the odds in their favour, playing at home with 0-0 as aggregate score line.

Barca however, will go for glory in the Theatre of Dreams tomorrow. Rijkaard will order his players to fire on all cylinders like they always try to.

This were Rijkaard’s words at the last press conference. “We need to do what we’re good at. During my tenure as Barcelona coach we played on the counter only once, two seasons ago against Chelsea. They were that strong that we felt it was necessary then. This time against Manchester United we will attack full throttle. The first match hasn’t resulted in goals, I know, but we won’t be waiting for a successful counter-attack.”

Rijkaard didn’t want to go into questions on his future.

Barcelona can’t play Raf Marquez due to a suspension. Carlos Puyol will be present though.

Wayne Rooney may not start against Barca. The striker copped a hip injury against Chelsea, in which he did score despite the pain.
