If you see this before the France match, you’ll like it. A lot!

If you see this after and we won, it’s even better. But if we have lost….hmm….

The defence was utter shit, but thankfully Robben delivered. Could easily have been 4-1 to France.

You don’t think throwing the game is the least bit dishonourable?

the football gods are with Orange for a change :D

btw, robben - amazing. so so effective. I think de jong deserves a special mention too. He defended very well and linked up play well.

should oranje play a B team against romania with the risk of losing and the halting the winning flow?

Netherlands really should play at least most of their best squad. Why? When you’re on a roll like this, the concept of loosing a game promotes cockiness, especially when, by rights, Netherlands should win. If the Netherlands throws the game, it’ll promote the cocky attitude that made Italy and France play so poorly.

When the reserves are Huntelaar, Bouma, Heitinga and Jan Hesselink, I don’t think Romania are going to have an easy time.

Bearing in mind they have kept both Italy and France to a draw. But they need to win to be sure of progress. That opens the game up for us to exploit.

YOu can talk smack all you want, but Romania beat you once and we will do so again in this tournament. All this talk about you playing with the 2nd team makes me sick. There is absolutely no reason for you to see yourself winning with Romania, the odds are in our favor. Italy underestimated you, don’t do the same with us. Peace out

romania and the netherlands will qualify together from “the group of death” as they did in the qualifying group, only now holland will be in 1st place and romania in 2nd.the underdogs crashed the World Cup finalist and the Wolrd champions….i hope one of these teams wins the tournament…i’m romanian btw but i’m a big fan of the dutch, so good luck for both teams !

To all Italian and French fans, you won’t need to worry about the Dutch team throwing the last match or not playing to win.

When we win, we always want to do it in style and be on the offensive. Van Basten and his team wouldn’t want any ‘dark spots’ on a possible trophy and an intentionally thrown game would definitely be a dark spot.

For that matter, you can also expect the Dutch to be willing to take risks with putting additional attackers on the field later in the game against Romania if we’re not already winning.

Ah hell, MvB even puts attackers on the field for defending midfielders when we’re ahead 1-0. Tell me one country/team that has the balls to do that?

All teams that have won the WC’s and EC’s lately have been playing it safe and unwilling to take risks (often winning by little margin with a penalty or a free kick, or a draw followed by penalties). France/Italy/Greece, they’ve all been playing defense/counter, even at 0-0.

By scoring early goals we forced them out of their shells and put them in to the position we are usually in, having to attack and risk counters. I’m quite happy to see us beating them at their own game now. But if we meet France or Italy again it’s all going to depend on who scores the first goal again.

I don’t think so. We play way too aggressively to let one goal phase us. I doubt even the other teams would feel confident with just a 1-0 lead over the team that beat Italy 3-0 and France 4-1. And as France has shown today, when you’re focused on defence, you can keep on launching waves of attacks without a real worry for counters. I doubt any team would want to put themselves in that position for long against our attackers. If we didn’t put Robben and Van Persie in the game to form a front with RvN and knock on their front door, we might have very well lost the game.

Still, I think it is more than normal to let our best players rest and give our B team more experience fighting Romania. This way, our best players can recover and focus, while our B team gets stronger, regardless of a win.

Troynew : Here’s the deal man, you play football 2 score. THe team with most goals at the end wins. THat’s it. YOu don’t play to impress the public nor to have a greater possesion of the ball. Blaming your loss on the wind - LOL - or luck or the referee is absurd and irrelevant. I respect the Dutch team, but I’m pretty confident that we will win. THe problem with France and Italy was their defence and goalkeepers. France’s defence was DEAD in their game with Netherlands and that goalkeeper should be ashamed of himself. Romania has a very good defence if you didn’t notice by now. That’s how we beat Holland. We totally destroyed France and Italy’s games. YOu can have 11 Van Nistelrooy’s in the field for all I care mate, they won’t be able to get past their half of the field. But enough talk, we’ll see what happens on Tuesday. I hope the wind will be on our side again :P.

With France, Italy and Greece thoroughly humiliated in this EC, I think it should be pretty clear to everyone that the “we once rocked you” theory doesn’t hold much water nowadays.
