Last match day is here…
After a day and some we’ll know who the new champs are in Holland. And whether Van Marwijk failed his challenge at Feyenoord. Etc etc…
Fact is, it’s a tad quite in Eindhoven. The bravado speak comes from Amsterdam, but the players and staff of PSV do not want to discuss the “what-if” scenarios.
Ironically, Danny Koevermans left AZ last summer for PSV to win prizes. His AZ couldn’t win on the last match day and gave the title to PSV. Now, there’s a chance his team will do it again, this time to Ajax. If so, I think Koev will become the shlemiel of the Dutch League!
Former Ajax and PSV coach Aad de Mos’ Vitesse will try to stop PSV from re-claiming the title.
In the meantime, Stanley Menzo (ex-Ajax, ex-Oranje and former assistant coach of San Marco) won the Jupiler league with his Volendam. The quaint fisherman’s village club – called the Heen & Weer (the To and Fro) because in the olden days Volendam would be promoted in one year only to be relegated the next
– brought us players like The Muhren bros, Wim Jonk, Pier Tol, Jan Kromkamp etc.
Although Feyenoord is still not certain about their finish, but the Rotterdam club is raking in the sponsor millions again and is after some interesting new players. Danny Koevermans being one of them! So, PSV loses out on Ajax, Koev signs for Feyenoord and next season Feyenoord leaves the title on the last day to… AZ.
Speaking of which, Louis van Gaal decided to stay at AZ. “I really think things have changed here and with Schaars and Martens back in the dressing room, the hierarchy is restored. I could go to Galatasaray or Sporting Moscow but I want to finish my contract here.”

Feyenoord should seriously reconsider what they are doing. Danny Koevermans is soon 30; they already got Timmer, Hofland, Lucius, De Cler Landzaat, Die Hard 2 (or Gio as some call him), Makaay and Mols around that age. They should try to get some younger players, maybe from Scandinavia.

Go Ajax, PSV robbed us last season, its our turn this season.
