Ajax misses out on Champions League football!

Twente coach Rutten celebrates with Braafheid

Marco van Basten will be livid!

The new Ajax main man must have expected his future team to be able to score, but they couldn’t. FC Twente won 2-1 last week at home and kept the Sons of Gods at 0-0 in Amsterdam.

Schalke’s new manager Fred Rutten has led his team into the Champions League qualifications for the first time in their history.

And thus, the Dutch season ended with some surprises: NEC fought their way back in 2008 to snatch up the last UEFA Cup ticket and Twente beat Ajax to it. The Amsterdam club did finish second in the “normal” competition but they’ll miss out on a 25 millions euro paycheck thanks to the dreaded play-offs.

And most remarkably, FC Twente is courting current Ajax coach Adrie Koster to replace Rutten next season. So, losing a ticket to the CL could well mean that Koster will be coaching in the CL next season!

Marco won’t be happy…

I know. It’s such a blow. Financially, in particular. And they did finish second! I haven’t seen the match, so can’t tell you about Engelaar, sorry.

I know ridiculous.
I watched the game yesterday on sportitalia channel and considering I’m a bij ajaxcied I was really disappointed.

I think Huntelaar is going to leave now.
Did you hear about Ajax being interested in Huth for the defence?

Why is Huntelaar going to leave? Because Ajax only will play in the UEFA cup. But I agree that Huntelaar must leave to a bigger competition, like Italy. He should go to Italy: Inter, Juventus, or Roma. Because they play in the CL.

Apparently Roma is going to offer 30 million euros for Huntellar.

Real Madrid, Manchester Utd., Barça, Napoli and Juventus are also interested.

Agree with goose, I hope Huntelaar doesn’t go to Italy, but if he does, I really, really hope he doesn’t go to Roma!

Huntelaar is Sir Alex plan B if he can’t land Berbatov from Spurs in the summer.

Don’t be surprised to see Huntelaar in the Prem next year, United or somewhere else. They have the money, and I think he could have a Van Nistleroy like impact. British football actually works well for Dutch strikers for some reason. Plenty of history to support that notion, and most recently just look at Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink at Celtic. Done very well indeed. If I was Huntelaar AND looking for a move (I hope he doesn’t), I wouldn’t go to Italy. Crap league, fixed games, divers all over the place, women with mustaches and the country that makes Fiat. Why would anyone go there?

The food? The women without moustaches? (believe me, I’ve been there many times and those girls on scooters are just wonderful) The fashion? The climate? The coffee (ristretto, espresso, capucino…those names alone!)?

Edgar Davids will leave Ajax this summer. The midfielder will not renew his contract. The pitbull did declare that he is still considering his next step. He stated that he still feels fit to play top football and is considering offers from abroad and from other Dutch clubs. I’ll write a more substantial post on Davids soon.

I’ll give you the food. Not sure about the girls on scooters though. I rather prefer the 6ft tall Dutch blondes on bicycles. Now that is a sight!!!

I hear what you’re saying :-)

I was surprised to learn on my travels that most international people thought the Dutch girls are the prettiest! I think that’s because these people visited Amsterdam only :-) .

I can show you some places in Holland where even the mosquito’s won’t touch the ladies hahahaaa….

But “neighbors’ grass is always greener”

Our dutch ladies are the most beautiful in the world.. blonde, intelligent, not much body-hair… finnster; you and i understand

im pretty sure the places Jan is refering to are our immigrant area’s…those women are very ugly (at least if you see them behind their veils or burkhas)fat and hairy… and they never ride bikes btw.

all hail to the beautiful dutch women! (and down with the dark hairy ones!) hahaha

(this comment is not to be taken very seriously)

I’m also for Dutch girls.
But Slovenian and Estonian are still the best.

I’m still trying to understand what Ajax out of the Champions’ League can actually mean.

*bursts in tears*
