Oh, Hans... in my opinion, he was one of the best (possibly THE best) goalie at Oranje's history, but he'd do better if he concentrates himself at HvB Management and in his enterpreneurial speeches.

Of course I don't think Henk will be VDS replacement, as he'll probably retire on 3 or 4 years. But Marianne's husband said good: Netherlands have good goalkeepers. For now and for the future. It's natural to miss VDS - not only as a keeper, but as the leader he was -, but to make pressure on a Sar return would be bad for all: for Oranje, for Sar, for the replacements...

Poor Vlaar! He has no luck by now. I hope his knees give him a break after some time.

About Drenthe? Well, here in Brazil we have many cases about players who think that play more than they really do. And the end is not happy. So can happen with Royston.

you people should realize that talent means NOTHING without the mental aspect
Drenthe has shown to be a poser, an arrogant little brat who lost all reality (if he ever had it)
im 100% sure that Drenthe will never make it as a good, pro footballer, no person with a brain the size of a peanut will make it to the big boys

I watched the Madrid game last night and I couldn't believe they only won 2-0. Madrid had tons of chances/good opportunities, they should have done much better. Oh well, a win is a win though, and that's what matters.

I also watched the Arsenal game; this game was tighter, although Arsenal still should have scored more. They had a few good opportunities, in particular one excellent one for Adebayour and another very good one for Fabregas (set up by Van Persie), but didn't have luck this night. The penalty call was a complete joke though - Sagna didn't foul the Dynamo player, the Dynamo player pulled off a first-class tricking of the referee - the Dynamo player did a Judo-worthy move to pull Sagna onto his back to make it look like a foul. Watch it again and you'll see it; he pulls Sagna and trips him at the same time, making Sagna fall onto his back for a convincing looking fake.

I don't think Timmer was bitchy. He merely defended the young goalies against that Mr Positivo Hans van Breukelen. I thought it was good of Henkie to do that.

Drenthe does seem to think he pretty good, but i don't see it in his play that often, still has a long way to go in several aspects, it will take more than a few good substitutions to make me believe Drenthe is the new Roberto Carlos.
Think Vlaar has the potential, but he keeps running into bad luck, he should consider getting outside professional help in trying to stabilise his knees. I've been having problems with my knees the previous 2 seasons, but with some extra therapieprogram i managed to build extra strenght in the muscles around my knee, now i hardly have any troubles at all(btw i play for fun, not money).
And about Timmer, i don't see any reason why Timmer should be so bitchy, he showed that he isn't that good of a keeper, and the only reason he's still in Oranje is because he's experienced, and he's getting the benefit of the doubt by V.Marwijk, but Velthuizen/Vermeer have much more natural talent. Think he's overestimating himself. I should also say, i get urges to hurl every time V.Breukelen says something, he should start training young goalkeepers instead of trying to be a convincing analist.

I feel sad for Vlaar ...thought he was great in the Jong Oranje team and hoped he would come through but doesn't look like it. Everytime he returns he injures himself again - truly sad :(
@Tiju, I think Drenthe would make a phenomenal Left wing back like Roberto Carlos or even one of our controlling midfielders on the left side. I keep hoping :)

@carlos
I knew what he did in olympics.but dont write off drenthe he is far better than kuyt, vanbommel etc like low skilled orange players(match winner).ofcourse he himself proving he is an idot.i am so sad.if he improves i will be happy and he may bring joy for us.
@jan abt ronvlaar-think he wont reach top leavel if this is recurring.

You beat me to it Carlos. I read that piece on Drenthe too :-)).

Anyway... Ron Vlaar is injured AGAIN... I don't know if his body is fit for top football.

In the VI magazine, Hans van Breukelen offered to put on his keepers' gear again, because apart from him or Edwin van der Sar, there no good goalies left. Feyenoord and Oranje goalie Henk Timmer reacted annoyed: "Holland has had one world class goal keeper in the last 40 years and his name is Edwin van der Sar. When he retires, it's normal for a nation to have a bit of a problem. Same will happen to Italy and Spain once Buffon and Casillas retire. But we're the only country nagging about. I work with Stekelenburg and other young goalies, and I'm telling you: these boys have it all. Cut them some slack and allow them to grow."

Hans, shut up!
