Wondergoals: Marciano Vink

We live in the YouTube age and everything that has been filmed or will be filmed can be found in a matter of seconds (or if you live in Australia: minutes…).

I will never forget this particular moment. A great goal by one-time-supertalent Marciano Vink. The Ajax player – destined to become the next Ruud Krol – made a move to Italy and played for Genova (as did John van ‘t Schip).

Vink wouldn’t last long in international football due to injuries, but before he had to retire, he did score a wonderful goal…

I guess Maradona could do it many times and in big matches too!

Vink was a talented bloke. Played center back when very young. Still, a bit too arrogant, to lazy and at the end of the day, too vulnerable.

@Jan, “Still, a bit too arrogant, to lazy and at the end of the day, too vulnerable.” I think that characteristic can be applied to quite a few of the current Oranje…Van Persie and Robben comes to mind…

Instead of making fun of the aussies (i am all for that), we should make fun of the Russians instead. That way when we play again, if we win we can say I told you so and if we lose we can at least feel good about making fun of them over the years.

Maybe we should wait until after the friendly though.
