Wonder saves: Ruud Gullit

August 28th, 2008 | By: Jan | 17 Comments »

He wasn’t an actually goalie, of course. But one day he had to replace the keeper and Ruud Gullit knew how to stop the opponents from scoring!

Look at this!!

That wasn’t Gullit, it was Columbia keeper Higuita - the famous “scorpion” kick

Indeed gooranje, the only thing Higuita had in common with Gullit was the hair cut.

None the less the “scorpion kick” is a classic. He also scored a couple of goals himself and was considered a complete nutcase. He started a very successful sportswear collection with his colourful goalie shirts as well.

I think Jan is playing with us or he just has had one too many Victoria Bitters tonight :-)

I was going to say the same thing, but gooranje got here first. But I think I’ll agree with Finnster, I think Jan is just having some fun with us.

Anyone watch the Arsenal vs. Twente Match from yesterday? I just finished watching it… Van Persie missed an absolute sitter on a practically empty net!

And he couldn’t hit the goal on one of 4 free kicks the week before against Fulham…

What is up with him?

Think Robin needs time and some confidence again - The Russian goal helped but so many misses since then as well. Not doing his confidence much good. But dont forget this is just the start of the season, Class is permanent-Form is temporary (I know its an old cliche)

British football sites all say the same thing, Wenger wants to buy De Guzman for 15 million euros ,apparently they all think he’s a tough-tackling midfielder, and they said he’s a Dutch Owen Hargreaves who’s going to replace Flamini, i don’t know what they’re on but i sure hope Wenger would have taken the effort to look at Jonathan before signing him or else he’ll be pretty surprised when he finds De Guzman is really an attacking midfielder.

They mean he’s the Dutch Owen Hargreaves because he’s half Canadian.

Right guys, I was just having a go :-).

As for De Guzman, Wenger has been scouting and following him for two years. Apparently, Feyenoord hasn’t heard officially from Arsenal. The Hargreaves connection is indeed the Canadian thing. Guz is a different player and Arsene will know this alright. 15 Mio euros. Feyenoord is not too happy.

dont htink de Guzman is good enough for Arsenal…but if Feyenoord can get that kind of money they should take it and run!

off topic;

Sno and Drenthe are removed from the U21 team by Foppe de Haan. They have structuraly misbehaved during the Olympics, Foppe was very dissapointed

Hey Goose
What does “structuraly misbehaved” mean ? To me it would mean not conforming to the “build up” (of the game ?) :) would agree to that !!!But then half a dozen more were lousy in the build up. Maduro the worst.
