Wonder goal: Marc Overmars

October 7th, 2008 | By: Jan | 15 Comments »

He was quick. He was mentally and physically strong. And a nice bloke.

He liked to dribble to the inside with the ball and go for the near post. Almost his signature thing.

But he didn’t score many “great” goals. To me, they never looked spectacular. And then this one came. Against Belarus. I believe he had just come on for Gio van B.
And he scored a super goal:

Nice goal from a nice bloke.

Latest news from the Norway camp is that John Carew didn’t practice today. He has a neck strain he received in the Aston Villa - Chelsea game (had to be subbed in the 72nd minute). They hope he will be ready to go against Scotland & Holland but there is some doubt now. That would be an enormous blow for Norway as he is their most important and best player.

And Spain has won so much right, European champs in 2008 and 1964. AMAZING you guys rock. Your best world cup result was fourth back in 1950. At least the Dutch have come runners up twice.

Provenzano:

Overmars has won many titles and a UCL, you have to know the issue before you express your stupid opinions my friend. Spain has only 1 more cup, if you were Brazilian or German I’d say nothing in response but Spain has only 1 more cup than us.

miguel Rosado, tell u a little secret??we all laugh at Holland´s total flop football..lol..what use is total football when u get thrashed by Russia??what use is total football without any results??Holland is miless behind brazil, argentina, Italy , germany ,france or even spain..Holland cant even defeat Australia of all people..i did read somewhere that Holland cant even win against Catennaccio playing Italy for something like 38 years before that FLUKE win in the Euros which happens once in a trillion years8 like Cameroon defeats Argentina, Senegal defeats France……..)…lol

What use is playing regular football when you once every 40 years. Come back in 20 years and then we’ll see who’s better. You Spanish have gotten so cocky now that you have won the EC. You barely beat Germany and Italy, while we the Dutch thrashed them. Oh it can’t be a fluke if you beat Italy and then France by a 3 goal margin. You know the world champs and runners-up.

I’ll check to see if this is the same creature that visited us earlier on…

If not, it’s just a fan from the other side, yelling to us through the fences :-).

They fear us!

It was Malta. 12-1. Freek de Jonge mentioned the scoreline when he did a live stand up that night and the audience were laughing their socks of, thinking he was joking….

He got a better one against Yugoslavia, in Euro 2000. It was a 20-25 yard volley, I believe.

Guys, for f*ck sakes, ignore this idiot troller! He comes back every once and a while and everyone falls for the bait everytime! Ignore him, you just make yourselves look foolish by taking him serious!

My favourite dutch player in the last 20 years of football. His speed was insane at the time, hed run over any back that faced him, and when he got passed they never caught up. Wonder how he’s gonna do for the first class team Go Ahead eagles. Hes been injured for a while. Did you guys see the match that ajax played as a farewell game for Jaap Stam. Overmars ran all over Ogararu, and he still plays for the romanian nationa team. Loved his performance.
