Ronaldo was Brazil’s key to winning the striker took them to as far as the quarter finals. After all how much can one great striker do. Parreira did a good thing by putting him in the starting line up but still fell short by not winning the WC. GO RONALDO!!.

Good list. You would have to put Perriera on top for losing with some great players, and leaving Robinhio on the bench for the fat and unfit Ronaldo.
Peckerman, second, for becoming so defensive with some of the best attacking players in the Cup.
Van Basten for failing to press home his one-man advantadge against Portugal and leaving Ruud on the bench.
And Sven for being hopeless full-stop.
The best… Klinsman, Hiddink, Lippe, take your pick. But leave Schollari out of arguments for the worst. His team made the final four and you cannot argue against that.

France is in the finals so I don’t think you can say that Domenech is a bad coach. He was the only one in France to believe that they could go to the final game. Everybody thought he was crazy but he proved everybody wrong. There is no way a bad coach can manage and motivate his team like he did for France and get so much success and be called a bad coach.
I agree with what Fares said for the worst coach: Petkovic (S &M) … The team went unbeaten in the WC qualifications, then in the WC he plays only one good game (Vs. Holland) and then the team collapse because of political issues. So the talent is there, but his managing abilities were shitty.
Before the WC, I thought that S&M would be very tough to beat but they were terrible and I think most of it can be blamed on their coach

I’m not convinced with Raymond Domenech, I think France are winning inspite of him rather then because of him. He has made one bad move after another ie0 Coupet, who is an excellent goalie is sitting on the bench, while Barthez, who is absolute rubbish is practicly, single-handedly ruining France’s chances of winning. Did you see that crazy play against Portugal, luckily Figo is so shit he couldn’t convert on the header.
But that garbage would not be happening if Coupet was in net, and J>S. Park would never have scored that tieing goal for Korea, because Coupet would have grabed that ball before it ever landed. Barthez’s play in the box is disasterous and I hope it does not end up costing France the world cup. I still say Domenech belongs on the worst coach list.

I read that on either the http://www.vi.nl site (Voetbal International) or the http://www.ad.nl site (Algemeen Dagblad). Probably the latter, info from Hugo Borst, the writer who has direct links into many players and coaches and seems to be the exclusive interviewer for Marco van Basten. Many scoops come from Borst.

After yelling from the rooftops for four years, I’m truly tired of thinking about the US team.

Just imagine them with four years to prepare with a real coach. I’d probably list them as one of my teams to watch if that ever happened.

Advocaat is always my pick for worst coach. In my opinion he has proven his inability to coach. Van Basten, I’m truly disappointed about. Way too many tactical mistakes. I wish he realizes that soon and fixes his shortcomings.

I haven’t been able to watch much of the new team, but from what I saw, Van Persie and Robben were ball hogs some of the time. However they are still better than Kuyt even if they have their shoe laces tied. Kuyt works hard, but he has no business being the central striker. I think the central striker and shadow striker should have been Van Nistelrooy and Van Persie (or Bergkamp… I really miss seeing him play).

Kuyt, if used, should be in the midfield or at best a winger. he doesn’t have the instincts for a striker as evident in his performance in the WC. I had expected Makaay in the team and Davids. Davids commands respect from the opposition. I can understand wanting to build a new team, but you have to transition into it instead of starting from scratch.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about Huntelaar. I’m not familiar with his ability as I don’t get to watch much football here. My main resource used to be http://www.knvb.nl but that has become a Dutch only site and I haven’t found the time to learn Dutch yet. I’d appreciate it if someone could point me to some place where I could learn more about the new players.

ps Portugal have been rubbish, a solitary 1 0 with Angola after scoring in 5 mins, beat Iran wow, were well lucky against 10 man mexico who should have had at least a draw, were a disgrace the Holland match, were totally toothless against England, could have played for a month and still not scored. Im hoping they get there comeuppance the night and get sent packing. Worst team ive ever seen at the semi stage.

It would be a travesty if they got into the final unless they somehow conjure up some magnificent goal fest v France. But I somehow doubt it.
