I fancy Cote d’Ivoire to escape the group of death. And maybe Holland to follow suit.

Argentina and Holland will go to the second round because the other opponents in this group are just warmup games for these two sides.

For the good of football, Argentina and Holland should go through… I wouldn’t mind Ivory Coast too.

What a silly article is this!! Cruyff’s arguing with the ref cost us the cup in 74??? Cruyff’s pulling out of the 78 one cost us the cup??? V Basten and Gullit bickering in 90?? This guy doesnot know his stuff. It’s an idiot! Who is this guy. Ban him from football events… Or am I overreacting??

I know I know. It is pretty much a lazy excuse to seek for it. Although the sending home of davids because he told the coach not to put his head up white player’s asses, and look for black one’s instead, might have played a role arguably. And Cruyff not playing in 78 i feel could have made a difference. We might have needed that extra touch against Argentina, but no one can see the future. But that guy is just looking for unreasonable excuses. I agree with you Jan. Cheers

That Davids quote was a classic, though eh :-)? Great stuff. And after that incident, all went well incl the WK98. No, Davids is a smart operator, I’ll tell ya. And of course would Oranje’s chances have been better with Johan on board in ‘78, but he wasn’t there and still we reached the finals and if Rensenbrink would have aimed better, we’d have won!! It’s like saying, that with Dennis Bergkamp, the Dutxh would’ve reached the WK02 in Japan… Ther guy quit. Johan didn’t go to Argentina, and all thanks to the %&$# Zjermans and their Bild-jinx of ‘74… GRRRR, bring the tournament on!! I’m all pumped up… :-)

Holland has been doing well, in their run to the WC they haven’t lost a single match under Van Basten.
You can count along that friendly defeat against Italy, but more than half the team were B-players.

Argentinia has a strong squad on paper, but as showing to England and other matches, they still have their flaws.

Let’s face it, Argentinia got knocked our early during 2002, Holland failed to qualify for 2002, they both have a score to settle, since they always perform great on a WC.

Even though Ivory Coast and S&M have a great team, they won’t make it.
I’d prefer to see Holland and S&M proceed, but again my guesses are Holland and Argentinia.

I have a feeling that Serbia & Montenegro might just become great friends of Oranje.

(Of course after the June 11 game.)

I think Argentina & Holland will progress. But it will be a tight group, really any one of them could go through?
