Wesley Sneijder hopes to start vs Liverpool

Sneijder and Robben preparing for The Reds
Wesley Sneijder thinks Real Madrid has a good chance reaching the quarter finals of the CL tonight. “If Liverpool can win an away game, with 1-0, why can’t we? We might be able to do a bit better even. And we won’t be led to the slaughterhouse, just like that. We’ll put a fight!”
The Oranje midfielder expects an exhilarating duel between the two behemoths. “It can’t get worse than the home game. The coach put in some extra securities, but we can’t do that again. Now, it’s all or nothing. Winner takes all.” And that seems to be good for the former Ajax player, who only got to warm up two weeks back. “I think I’ll start now. Although I didn’t get any signals or anything. It’s just a feeling I have.”
If Juande Ramos allows Sneijder to start, the Dutchman is focused on a peak performance. “I haven’t played well in the last months. Main reason is my injury. I wasn’t 100% fit when I came back and I lacked rhythm. But I can feel my form return. I play with feeling again instead of with my head. I think less and play more intuitively. I want to be important tonight.”
With Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel playing for the opposition, this match has a special ring to it for Sneijder. “I love playing against guys I know. And I love winning against them, haha…”
And when Madrid wins, they’ll go in the history books. The last time Real Madrid qualified after losing at home was in 1970 against Wacker Innsbruck.

@Finn – it will be really difficult, that’s for sure, but if they can score at least one they can tie it and take it to extra time/penalties… or maybe they can somehow play great attacking football and score two goals (not likely, but you never know what can happen)! Either way, I’m taping the game and excited to watch it tonight!

Apaprently Golden Guus tipped Chelsea for V.d.Vaart as “the” man to lead their midfield with Lampard next season, As Deco and Ballack might be going out. But also Arsenal, Barcelona and Juve are said to keep a close eye on the situation. I hope Rafael makes a good decision if he is to leave.
Real do have a small chance, but I don’t think Liverpool will grant them a lot of opportunities.
BTW I think Sneijder, Robben and Huntelaar will stay at madrid for sure, Sneijder cost them too much to write of this soon, Huntelaar is starting to show he “is” a goal machine for Real, and Robben will probaby only get even better.
Drenthe is on the verge of becoming a lost cause, but his succes is up to him.
I think Drenthe and V.d.Vaart might be leaving Real soon, if only for a loan-period or something.
Some other rumours i heard:
Mourinho is eyeing Afellay to join Internazionale
HSV interested in El Ahmadi from Feyenoord
first division club VVV-Venlo are asking 10 million euros for their Japanese international Keisuke Honda, this isn’t a rumour. I think it’s to scare off clubs.

Gago, Diarra absolutely no control over midfield. Higuain looks like a schoolboy, Raul nowhere, Robben never got a normal pass, or sent forward. Sneijder, V.d.Vaart, Marcelo looking lively though, maybe cause pool defenders starting to sleep, but those three better than the rest. But i have to say, absolute blundering referees, Heinze never touched the ball with his hand, and it looks like Pepe was fauled for the first goal. Besides that, the refereeing doesn’t make a lot of sence. This is why i would beg to use camera replays at big matches, to avoid these sorts of controversies. They just replay at the sideline, the referee waits half a minute and he knows whether to allow the goal or not.
Babel did well, assist for the 3-0 and almost played with his opponent second half. BTW, his training is paying off cause he said he was practicing his weaker leftfoot and I thought that’s where the pass came from.
Overall very weak central midfield performance for Real, bad refereeing, forward tandem Torres-Kuyt-Gerrard-Babel worked well today.
one last remark, Sergio Ramos was in UEFA team of 2008, WHAT?? they might as well have put Boulahrouz there then, cause Ramos rarely played a good match both offensively as defensively.

I was pretty spot on that one, including the Oranje Angel part unfortunately.
