Wesley ready for the Milan derby

August 27th, 2009 | By: Jan | 50 Comments »

Wesley and girlfriend Yolanthe will now look for a love nest in Milan

After one day of doubt, Sneijder chose Wednesday night for the way out of Madrid. He had a long meet with Inter’s representatives in Madrid and decided to make the move to become an Interisti.

He’ll play in the blue-black for four years, his manager Soren Lerby confirmed.

Real and Inter struck a deal a week ago already. Inter pays 15 million euro for the midfielder. According to the Italian media, Sneijder will make 4 million euros per year. That is exactly one million more than his salaries in Madrid and one of Sneijder’s most important conditions to make the move.

Although Inter is a top club, Sneijder took some time to decide and at first refused to make the move. He didn’t want Real to determine where he’d play next. When even Pellegrini turned his back to Sneijder, he decided to move. Exactly 60 years after Faas Wilkes made the move from Holland to Inter, the first in a row of a series of Dutch players ( Bergkamp, Jonk, Davids, Seedorf, Winter and Van der Meyde).

Inter’s prestigious coach Mourinho is happy with Sneijder and welcomed him with open arms. The former Chelsea coach said last week he desperately needed a creative midfielder and Sneijder was the ideal candidate.

So, yesterday Sneijder said yes. “I’m proud to play for Inter. They won the scudetto four times in a row and it’s an absolute top club. I’m not happy with the way Real treated me, but that’s behind me now. I’m an Interisti now, and happy to be one. If the coach needs me against AC Milan, I’m ready. I’m fighting fit and eager to play.”

Team manager Bert van Marwijk will be happy to see Sneijder move to Milan.

Real Madrid has now brought it’s selection back to 25 players, the maximum number a club can register for the competition and Champions League, although this doesn’t mean Van der Vaart can stay. Arjen Robben is rumored to talk to Manchester United, the club that wanted to buy when he was a teenager playing for PSV.

The European Club Goalkeeper of the Year is Van der Sar. That’s good that he won.

Great news for the Netherlands not so good news for Madrid haha.

Yesterday I told a friend that Robben would leave during winter break and one day later there it is in the news. Bayern his new destiny.

Robben is not a bench player and believes in his abilities therefore he would not be able to stand this stupid treatment from Madrid. He will be a major succes for Bayern.

It’s good because now I’ll be watching MORE football. Arsenal, Bayern, Inter, Madrid (ruud and drenthe) and of course Barcelona because even if they don’t have any Dutch they play the best football nowadays.

The champions league draw is good for AZ as they’re with Arsenal, Standard Liege, and Olympiacos. They should make it past this group which is good for dutch football.

Real sold Robben? :| Why? He was one of their best if not best players last year. What the hell is going on in Madrid? Perez is absolutely insane.

I’m just glad Robben is gone from Real Madrid. With all respect to Ruud and Royston, I am going to be praying that RM epically fails at everything this year. Although Bayern is not the greatest team on the planet, it is certainly a good team. They’ve done decently on the transfer market and van Gaal is a good coach. Robben will start every game. I’m gonna wait out and see just how good this transfer will be for Robben….

@Jeff

Elia plays at Hamburg, not Bayern. Braafheid is at Bayern and van Bommel.

@jeroen, I know that Elia plays for HSV I meant that it was ok for him to play in the Bundesliga but not for Robben who is already a star. I still think it would be better for Robben to play in the Prem.
I also vote for Ruud to get out of Real and go to Tottenham. Screw them.

-the epl is too rough for robben, the guy is already glass, you don’t want to beak it during wc season.
-tott doesn’t need ruud they already have 4 top class strikers. i rather see in ajax or psv.

I agree with MO about ruud. He wouldn’t play at tott. I would love to see him at Ajax, but if he did return it would probably be to PSV

Just watching HSV live now. For Tiju: Castelen is playing quite well. He’s actually playing no10 position, where I’ve never seen him play. Robben… I am glad he is out of Madrid, but I would also have liked to have seen him at the premier league. I just want VdV out now.

AFAIK, Elia and Castelen scored for Hamburg last weekend. How many Dutch players playing for Hamburg? Is Hamburg’s coach a Dutch?

Mohamed – close ! It’s Bruno Labbadia – probably will coach Germany one day. We all await the VdV saga – We should run a bookie club as to where he will go ? For those who still argue about who is better Wes or VdV, the only REAL measure is $$$$. Lets see how much VdV goes for and how much he will earn.

I´m happy that Robben and Sneijder are out of Madrid. They went to big clubs and will be playing in the CL. They will be key players for Inter and Bayern whereas at Real Madrid they would have been warming the bench. I liked those moves.

About Robben to Bayern, is it official now? Please wait until the last minute of Sept. 1, because MU are also chasing him. I will be happier to see him at MU. I am afraid that Van Gaal will be sacked after the next two or three matches…:-).

By the way, Sneijder puzzles me! If that’s his new girlfriend, then I can’t believe that it’s that easy to fall in love so quickly again after just divorcing his wife of many years.
Anyway, he should focus more on his football and less on girls for he has only @ most 10 years of football left in him, and a lifetime to womanize.

Footballer’s are known for that so we can ignore that or we can neglect that.We should shouldnot cheat any girl for sex that is important for me.As a human being we are all prone to mistakes, thats the way god created us.so take it as it is.”As you saw you reap”bear this proverb in our mind always.

@ Tiju: “As You Sow, So Shall You Reap.”
Meaning:
“Your deeds, good or bad, will repay you in kind.”
or “What goes around comes around.”
Thanks for the advice! Character is very important. Here in the US, the public image and persona of an athlete is what gives them endorsements, and undying love from the fans.
Since soccer is a global international sport, unlike national domestic sports like NBA, NFL, MLB in the US, there is less scrutiny towards European football players.
But I just expect so much from Sneijder now, there is no excuse.
So I hope he makes good use of this once in a life opportunity that is afforded to him, and focus solely on Football.
I wish him the very best, the expectations for him are great.
