Weekly update on Dutch football

Well well, the emotions have all relaxed a bit after Holland’s performance at the WC and most players are all actively involved in prepping for the club seasons starts.

Here’s the latest:

Feyenoord’s Dirk Kuyt has not found a new club yet, but the blond warrior from Katwijk has enthusiastically joined his teammates for the pre-season training- and match-sessions. He even was the man of the match of Feyenoord’s friendly against AGOVV, scoring twice (end result 5-0).

Van Nistelrooy said at his first press conference for Madrid that his relationship with Ferguson went south and that’s the main reason why he left Man United. “It was very hard, because Ferguson was very important to me and my career. He waited for me when I was injured, he treated me very well, always believed in me… But last season, something changed and that really really hurt.”

Luke Wiltshire, on of Australia’s starting players this WC has signed a contract at Dutch sub-topper FC Twente. His fellow country man Jason Culina revitalized his career there when he left Ajax. Now Culina plays for PSV Eindhoven. Wiltshire hopes to copy his Ozzie mate and move forward in his career via Twente.

Dennis Gentenaar, Ajax new goalie (came from Borrusia Dortmund after having made a name at NEC Nijmegen) has got a back-injury and needs severe treatment for it. Gentenaar is not part of the official team foto due to his injury.

Greek international Charisteas has learned from Ajax coach Henk ten Cate that he will be the fifth ranked striker in the Ajax squad and is therefore permitted to leave the club. PSV is said to be interested.

Gerald Sibon, the Zlatan Ibrahimovic-like forward of PSV Eindhoven will move to German team FC Nurnberg. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will probably make a move to either Celtic or FC Porto.

Jan Kromkamp, ex-AZ and current Liverpool player, is in demand in Eindhoven. PSV would like to sign the player who hasn’t had a lot of fun of his transfers leaving AZ. That is, not in the sporting sense of the word. Financially, he is doing well, without a doubt.

Salomon Kalou recently declared that Ruud Gullit’s advice (to move to Chelsea) was crucial in his decision making process. Pairing him with fellow country man Drogba, fueling rumours that Kalou will probably decide to play for Ivory Coast after all….

AZ goalie Henk Timmer leaves Louis van Gaal and goes back to Feyenoord. There, he’ll need to compete with 39-years old Patrick Lodewijks for a spot under the bar. Timmer played one year for Feyenoord and left his heart in Rotterdam. When he got into conflict with van Gaal and Feyenoord showed interest again, the choice was not hard.

Denny Landzaat is a Wigan Athletic player. He could chose from Espanyol (Spain) or Wigan and picked the number ten of the Premier League. He scored at his debut against FC Utrecht.

Thanks for the updates!

My guess is that Man U is not going to have an easy time of it. Between losing Van N and the whole Ronaldo mess. Yikes.

Really appears to me the Fergie is letting his dis-taste of stars get in the way of better judgement. Stam, Beckham and now Van N.

Not one appeared brilliant the next season.
