Weekend Action Pt 1.

Robin adores Adabayor and kisses his feet…
Robin van Persie played a great game, albeit in a position where his skills aren’t used in an optimum way, is my view. He scored a great goal – first this season – and had a scorcher on the post.
I can’t for the life of me understand why Wenger didn’t sign Huntelaar.
It seems Bendtner is playing on Van Persie’s position, but he lacks the vision and quick feet. Bendtner should be the target man, with Arshavin/Rosicky/ and Van Persie hovering around him.
Cesc should play in the holding position, one line back, allowing him to thunder forward and connect with Robin.
But what do I know?
Nigel de Jong played a good game too. The Fox commentator said: “He won’t be mentioned in tomorrow’s match reviews, but he’s been so important for the team.”
I think Amounia is a terribly overrated goalie, by the way.
Nice to see Elia score again. I suppose Boulah didn’t play?
I saw AC Milan – Levorno, but to nbe honest I couldn’t watch it longer than 30 minutes… Crap game. AC Milan is not in good form at all. And some pitches in Italy are just horrible.
I switched to watch Spurs vs Man United and the whole atmosphere in England is so much better.
AZ was taken to the cleaners by ADO, while PSV won 3-0 against Roda JC. FC Twente won 3-2 against impressive Utrecht, thanks to a late Ruiz goal. He’s been important in the season’s opening.
Feyenoord plays Willem II today and Ajax plays NAC. The latter game will be aired here tomorrow.
Feyenoord will lead the standings with PSV and Twente if they win…

Vorm played very well for Utrecht again this weekend. He’s impressing me a lot lately.
And Elia is on fire!

By the way, that was quite a horrible stomp by Adebayor on vP. Can’t stand that guy, and hope he gets a lengthy ban.

After watching Inter today and Juventus yesterday I must say Italian football is indeed a lot more boring than the Spanish or English league (actually German league as well, Bayern and Hamburg are flying, lots of nice flowing attacks).
But that’s only 2 games, I’m sure some fireworks are still to come (oh yeah, Milan-Inter was a reaaly good and fun match to watch, allthough Milan was crap of course).

Adebayor is a savage ! I can’t belive he did this to his friend and previous team mate . Shame !!
Huntelaar needs to work harder if he wants to be a starter in Ac milan . 3 matches 0 goal , watch out hunter !!
Heitinga played today in the holding midfielder position , but he was bad actually !
anyway , he has many excuses .. did not play in his position , 1st match with his new team , 1st match in the EPL
he must play as a center back .
Sneijer wasn’t good , wasn’t bad .. Waiting for more from him .
Kuyt , elia , persie , robben , de jong were all great , we don’t need to worry about them
And i feel sooo sad for vdv and ruud ! Poor guys .

Ha ha , great article for the anti – real madrid by Paul Tomkins , ![]()

Mohamed:
We don´t have to feel sorry for Ruud. He´s been the best goalscorer in 3 different leagues: Eredivisie, Premiership and La Liga. He is 33 years old and has been a very succesful player. When he had his first mayor injury at the beginning he had to be in PSV´s bench and Oranje bench for some time but once he recovered his best form he showed his value in PSV, then MAN U, Madrid and of course in Oranje. It will be very difficult for him to be the same player as before because of his age and the time he has been sidelined from the fields will be an issue too. But I´m sure he has something left in his boots and he will have his minutes and if regains some of his old form he will be very important for Madrid and of course for the Netherlands since Oranje doesn´t have many strikers right now.
And about Heitinga…well, every coach plays him in a different position: right back, center back, holding mid. I think Heitinga should make clear to them that he is a center back and that he can play in other positions but where he feels more comfortable and valuable is in the center of defence. He will not exploid if he is not played where he can shine. He is not like Cocu that could play almost in any position at the same level, he plays much better as center back because in all other positions he kind of sucks actually. And I agree with you Mohamed, I feel sorry for van der Vaart. He can be a good replacement in the bench for Kaká but he isn´t even called up. What a bastards Pellegrini, Florentino and Valdano are!!!.

Heitinga did play midfield at Ajax. He might be able to do so for Everton but as you said, he’s new, the league is new…
I watched Inter play Parma and was appalled by the level of the Italian Serie A
. At least this game.
Sneijder looked good to me, but he was basically neglected in the first half a lot. Most Inter players get the ball and start running until they end up in a cul-de-sac and then they look up. Sneijder had some good shooting opps but the gun isn’t in top form yet. Free kick hit the wall. Quality of assists wasn’t top either. Ball too high, ball too far behind him, etc. He did come off for the CL game against Barca and copped a standing ovation from the crowd. They can tell he brings brains and savvy to the team of clueless runners…

i thought seria was poor when i watched ac milan play. I think inter has a good team and could do well in champions league, maybe juventus too, roma is crap now. AC milan has no width so no crosses for huntelaar.
we need to find a formation that best suites
van persie
sneijder
robben
then
elia
huntelaar
van bommel
de jong
kuyt
van der vaart
i think the first three are the players that could win us a world cup. the rest can help out a lot. think of it as a A player list and a B player list. the players on lists are in no order.

i wouldn’t make too much of Heitinga being played in midfield for now. He was brought to replace the injured phil neville and everton had no other defensive mid on the bench, so by default they brought on heitinga…but this was clearly not the game plan before the match started and it only happened due to the unforseen need to sub out a defensive minded midfielder. i thought he was poor initially (a little lost) but grew into the game, so considering the circumstances i thought he did ok.

de Guzman scores again in Feyenoord win that goose has alluded to above.
Valencia and Aston Villa eying his transfer this January?

Guys:
Do you think De Guzman and Vlaar are in van Marwijk´s radar?. I have read they are playing great this season.

Yes they are
…
Bert managed them both at Feyenoord and has repeated spoke highly of them both. Been and Van Marwijk worded together successfully and I’m sure Been informs his former boss.
Johan Derksen is highly informed and he recently predicted that it won’t take long for Bert to call up Vlaar. Mind you, the latter hasn’t played for two years and might still be vulnerable or get a set back.

Thank you Jan for the precise information.

@jan too much kidding on van persie…it should have been on brentner.
@sol spot on man…i mean your post on previous post…Attacking quatretof roban,Persie,Znijder,Kuyt…..this formation will never work, offcousre they are the inform players but,i think znijder and roban is slightly selfish but they play with their heart for orange…kuyt is a Zero as central striker.Vanpersie is too thin to challenge the big physical diffenders.so it will never work .
so we can go for like this
——–Hunter———
Roban—Vanpersie—-Elia
——–Znijder———-
——–De jong (the only one destroyer)—
Brapheid–Mathjenson–Heitinga–Vander weil
or
Gio—-Mathjenson–Heitinga—Bulahruz
Presence of Znijder and elia will give us diffencive balence…
against italy, serbia, france, england we use kuyt instead of Elia…

@Jan: the wall Sneijder faced in the Parma game was a typical Italian wall, moving forward before the free-kick is taken in a way that the referee doesn’t notice or says anything about it. Sneijder should have made his run, than stop his run and point to the wall with his finger complaining to the referee to make sure those defenders stick to the rules. I remember de Boer or Davids talking to Collina (?) about the exact same thing and then scoring from the free-kick because Collina (or the referee) made sure the wall wasn’t cheating (even gave out a yellow), don’t remember exactly which game it was. But you have to play the ref a little in these situations and hope he does his job. The refs never notice if you just take the free-kick and hit the wall, no matter how close the wall is at the moment of the kick unless you say something about it to him.
In 2000 the Italians had a special trick to move the wall forward without the ref noticing, instead of the usual small steps forward-trick other nations always use (which sometimes DOES get noticed by the ref) they used a jumping-trick. They pretended to be jumping straight up (which looks like they just want to stop the ball in the air or distract the freekick taker), but in reality they weren’t jumping only upwards, but also just a few centimeters forward with every jump. They jumped like 10-20 times like that ending up 50 cm or half a meter more forward then where the ref had put the wall. I remember a lot of free-kicks ending in the wall like that because of bad refereeing.
I’m not sure if the trick is still being used, haven’t paid any attention to it lately.

But like I said many weeks ago when it was first suggested that Sneijder could move to Inter, Italy is an excellent training ground for Sneijder to find a way to counter all the dirty Italian defensive tricks. He’ll learn and experience a lot there, possibly more than he could ever learn at Madrid.
He’ll also learn to cope with situations where it’s very hard to brake through defenses, like the Parma game, and keep a cool head even if things are hardgoing or not working the way he would like (a slow defensive boring game has a negative effect on most creative players, Sneijder is no exception, he’ll have to play a lot of those types of games this year).

Yeah true… Interesting observation about the wall.
I was highly disappointed with the lack of pass and move in Inter’s game. They have a tremendous team on paper but on the pitch they all seem to play for themselves, apart from Sneijder who really tries to play one touch football. The fans seem to like him though…

I agree if Wenger had signed Huntelaar as his target man and an experienced Defensive Midfielder Arsenal would be the strongest team in the Premier League. You could see in the matches against both Man U and Man City that they have so so so much talent but they are missing key components and one of those is experience.

@jan…..italians with one touch football…….no hope for next 20years they wont play that.Dont expect one touch football from italians. But you can expect a pulling and pushing game….with some anti football tactics…
