Weekend action…

Interesting results this weekend… Feyenoord wins (shouldn’t surprise, but quite honestly still does a bit) with the help of young guns Wijnaldum, Biseswar and Slory. The latter scored one, Tomasson scored the second and Wijnaldum the third: 3-0 against RKC.

Ajax played away against Roda JC, since decades a tough opponent for the Sons of Gods and despite two Suarez goals, Ajax had to make do with one point: 2-2.
PSV had to face the rejuvenated FC Utrecht (with former PSV assistant coach Jan Wouters now assisting at Utrecht, his old club) and Utrecht didn’t get enough with 0-0.
With Twente winning away against Heracles, the Tukkers – and McClaren, Finn! – now lead the table in Holland.
AZ won again, at home this time against NAC, in a dudd game. Lens scored the only goal. Coach Koeman had send top striker El Hamdaoui home after the striker came late. The highway was closed off for repairs but the former Tottenham striker wasn’t informed and wasn’t in time to prepare for the game.
In England, Arsenal beat Blackburn 6-2, with Van Persie and Vermaelen scoring again, while Liverpool was outsmarted by Chelsea. Kuyt played, Babel came on late in the second half.

AC Milan had another howler of a game, with Seedorf and Huntelaar in the starting eleven: 1-1. The call for Marco van Basten – you read it here first, remember? – getting louder and louder…
Bert van Marwijk decided to call up Raf van der Vaart and Khalid Boulahrouz. Van der Vaart replaces Van Persie, who decided to stick with his wife who’ll give berth in the next couple of days, while Boulah makes his return to replace Ooijer (who has the same reason to stay home). Van der Wiel – concussion – won’t make the trip either and neither will the injured Afellay.
Boulah’s comeback after quite some time (my researcher is on holiday) and after recovering from a shoulder injury.
The Dutch volleyball girls won silver at the EC against Italy (this is another way of saying they lost the finals).

@Jan: Early days yet. I have no problems with the Tukkers and wish them well, but there is plenty of time for McLaren to get his umbrella out. He’s not looking too hot in Europe by the way.
They will do OK, but not great. A typical McLaren team. So what, I just don’t like the guy. OK, let me be honest, I hate the guy…
With that off my chest, consider my rant over.

Twente is sitting on top of the table this week, and it’s by enlarge due to Wout Brama’s contribution. How about Brama for Mendes Da Silva, Bert?

PSV should have lost 10-0. Utrecht had so many clear chances. Van Wolfswinkel had 3 clear chances none were put away and Isaksson played incredibly. Not a very impressive game by Engelaar and PSV. Got very, very, very lucky.

Jan, good to see you’re still around.
Heitinga is getting a look in at Everton. He had a lovely 30 yard pass for Saha to score last weekend.
I remember Marco van Basten says about Babel after he went to Liverpool that it was a mistake and he had told Ryan not too. Who was right? I saw today’s game with two Liverpool fans discussing it and the words they used to describe him were “awful”, “terrible”, “really bad”. Poor guy.
Although he’s retired for now from the Oranje Edwin van der Sar is sorely missed by Manchester United. Ben Foster has been very poor.
Can I shamelessly link to my own blog? I think I can…

I know this has nothing to do with this past weekend but did anyone else see that ridiculous goal by Vlaar from inside his own half?

I think Australians will break the leg of some of our players.they play too much physical and their players are extreamly fit…?Dont you think so?Jan,Carlos and co can watch that with a naked eye………

Chelsea match shows us how important is physical fitness is.it was a close match but chelsea’s attack was more sharper than the pool’s.I think Reina looks shaky now…that may the one reason…behind chelsea’s victory..

I think our lads need to be able to face the Aussies. In particular the lads who play in the EPL shouldn’t whine.
