Weekend Action…

Dick: “Just tell Roman to pick me for Chelsea… Pick me! Pick me!”

After all that boring CL football and high drama, we’re in for a smashing Eredivisie weekend…

PSV lost to Heerenveen already and the Sollied coached Northeners have leapfrogged PSV for the 4th spot. Tomorrow, Feyenoord can take over Vitesse in their head to head, while Ajax will have to face an away game in Utrecht, where Ton Du Chatinier is on a winning streak.

AZ may also face defeat this weekend, so anything is possible.

Dick Advocaat has denied the rumors that he’ll take over from Guus, but his comments are telling: “I haven’t heard this yet, so it’s bullshit…”. Hmm….he may hear tomorrow….

After Real’s defeat at home against Liverpool, Ramos confessed the Merengues missed a real striker. “We need a guy who can keep two defenders busy and create space for the midfielders. We missed that player.” Weird, because one Klaas Jan Huntelaar does exactly that. But, Ramos chose Diarra for the CL.

More in a seperate post…

Bert van Marwijk is enthusiastic about Van Nistelrooy’s comments. “He’s the one who told me that he wanted to focus on his club. I wasn’t too happy with that, and if he now wants to reconsider, I’m happy… He should get fit first, and than – if he’s game – he should just drop me a line.”

Mark van Bommel told the German press he will end his career in Eindhoven. “That is the deal I made when I left and I want to stick to it. But, whether that’s this summer or in two years, I don’t know.”

Van Bommel was the skipper in Bayern’s team last Wednesday, smashing Sporting Lisbon 0-5. The midfielder was offered a one year deal and Mark would like at least two years. He didn’t go into the apparent interest from Schalke 04.

See what I mean when I said Guus Hiddink looks like a retired cop from NYPD?

In any event, you have to hand it to the man. Scolari can’t beat anyone if his life depends on it. Enter Mr Hiddink and all of a sudden they can’t lose again, including 2 very close encounters with late dramatic wins. Whatever he does is nothing short of remarkable.

Obviously he can’t teach old dogs how to bark in 3 weeks, but as Goose says, he sure knows how to people manage!! John Terry all of a sudden is all happy again and back to talking crap in the papers. As much as I dislike Chelsea, Hiddink is a character and I hope Abramovich never lets him go back to Russia. He is far too much fun to watch in the prem.
