Wave of the future

Does anyone care about the Youth championships? I have no doubt that they will be forgotten whilst the World Cup goes on but with the Netherlands’ reputation for producing exceptional youth talent maybe its worth a look? Come Euro 2008 (van Basten’s real target) the replacements for the current older members of the squad will be coming from here more than likely. Some of the players have even made senior starts, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ron Vlaar are two examples.

It should only serve as more motivation knowing that Foppe de Haan’s handsome mug is on the front page.

The Nederlands-Italy game sounds tasty. Thought it interesting that Serbia and Montenegro are in the other u21 group.

While van Gaal recently made Medunjahin the no. 10 of AZ, the new playmaker. The man is a magician on football shoes. A joy to watch…

Well, divine intervention… Medunjahin is going after all. He replaces PSV talent Affelay, who got injured last week…
