Warm-Up vs U-21s

May 11th, 2006 | By: Mike | 6 Comments »

The Dutch team took time out for a friendly against the Dutch U-21 squad that ended 0-0. Defender Kew Jaliens is said to have a knee injury and it is unclear whether he’ll be fit for the World Cup. John Heitinga also made a good impression says the official web site.

Apparently van Basten has decided on his 23 and the match hasn’t changed anything. Reader Daniel’s site has a good run-down of the match action and van Basten’s quotes. It seems like the match was used as a show case for the different strikers all struggling for the limited spots.

That picture of Klaas Jan Huntelaar creeps me out. I thought I’d share it with the world.

What can i say, two good teams play eachother, there both from holland, no supporters, It was quite an equal ballenced match, and it was more to clear van bastens mind, than seeing the team score a goal. They can save that for Germany. vindt je ook niet? ( dont you think? ) Nederland gaat dit jaar winnuh!

It feels like a bit of a concern to me as well. Apparently three centre forwards played (one being subbed for the other), which makes it a bit harder for them to get into the the rhythm of the game. That must be it!

I imagine it felt like a training match. In Germany with the full Dutch support behind they will do fine.

Ya, that would be absolutely amazing. Nothing like a bit of payback for the last two draws against them.
