Van Marwijk positive about Feyenoord

Bert van Marwijk is Feyenoord’s longest reigning coach in the history of the club! He managed the team for 4 seasons in which he won the UEFA Cup with a team comprising Paul Bosvelt, Kees van Wonderen, Bona Kalou, Pierre van Hooijdonk and Shinji Ono. Oh yeah, and some brat called Robert van Pernis or something? Perdie? Robin Persies? Whatever….. Never heard of him again.

And Bert is Back! “Having worked here for so long, I kinda fell in love with the club. To me, the club and the fans were always warm. And yes, times have changed and so have I. But the main thing is: Feyenoord is still a huge club. Big legion of fans, huge reputation, great stadium, history… It’s all there. I think, with a couple of very targeted signings – experienced players who understand a club like Feyenoord – we can make huge steps forward. Don’t forget the number of talents Feyenoord has at the moment. In my view, it takes just a little step for a couple of experienced pro’s to glue the team together and make a huge jump! We’ve got Vlaar, De Guzman, Drenthe, Bruins, Slory, Vinvken, Tiendali… I mean, any club in the Dutch League would be jealous!”

Van Marwijk didn’t want to go into names, but it seems Feyenoord and Wolfsburg agreed upon the transfer of ex-PSV defender Kevin Hofland, who worked with van Marwijk at Fortuna. The 28 year old is back in his ol’ form and could even surprise San Marco! Roy Makaay’s signing is depended on the signing of Klose at Bayern Munich.
