Van Marwijk coach Oranje: GJ Verbeek to Feyenoord
It’s not official, but according to the media and rumours it will be announced soon:
Bert van Marwijk will take over Oranje post EC. So, we can expect a call back to Mark van Bommel… :-).
Van Marwijk was hesitant when his name was mentioned some weeks ago, but in the current state of mind (he wasn’t happy with his team), chances are he’d like to move away from Feyenoord.
Bert’s successor has already been seen chatting and drinking coffee with Feyenoord management (Bosz and Jansen) in some sleazy hotel: Gert-Jan Verbeek, Heerenveen’s success coach.
Verbeek is in his fourth year as Heerenveen coach. His team started slowly this season and had a bad run in the first half of the season. Reasons for the Heerenveen management to announce that they won’t extend Verbeek’s contract. After a couple of weeks, the team suddenly gelled and Heerenveen plays football from another planet. Verbeek is hot, Heerenveen’s management is not. Media, fans and analists all feel that Heerenveen should turn that decision around and plead with Verbeek to stay, but the proud and stubborn powers that be refuse. Verbeek is secretly chuckling… Ajax showed their interest and now it seems Feyenoord is ready, willing and able to make their move…

What is Bert’s style of playing? I mean, what is his preferred formation? 4-4-2 or 4-3-3?

@bobotoh; thats the one problem with vMarwijk…he plays very much on defense… more like 4-5-1 …. dont know if it will be the same when hes manager of a national team, but; cant get any worse than what we have seen with vBasten as Bondscoach!!

@goose Van Marvijk an old fart ha ha nice comment.
i think knvb become old fart now by making mistake repeatedly.otherwise they are planning to suicide.
1.De haan
2 Raikard
3 hiddink (if vailable)
4 JC one and only one JC can lead us to triamph

@tjiu; dont you think its better that the KNVB are looking for an older manager and not an inexperienced one??
1. what is deHaan doing at the moment??
2. Rijkaard; maybe in the future again
3. Hiddink is too expensive, and too popular
4. Cruijff; is never gonna do it…best change was in WC90, now he just wants to play golf and have an easy life (who can blame him??)

Van Marwijk would be an ok pick, he’s like a better version of Advocaat.

@goose: any idea about Stevens to be the manager? I thought he’s a good manager too. See how good he’s doing in Hamberg…and he’s experienced too

@ronald; i rate him very high … hes a great manager with a great mentality… he really did good at HSV (could get any worse after Doll! )…he wants to go back to Holland cause his wife is very ill, thats why he will move to PSV at the end of this season…
maybe after a few seasons in Eindhoven he could be our man at Oranje

I really think BvM is a great coach for Oranje. He is realistic, good manager, good football vision. Don’t forget he was a skilled left winger when he was young. A bit strange, like Robbie Rensenbrink and Piet Keizer. Exactly how left wingers are supposed to be. JC once said: a team has ten football players and one left winger. At Feyenoord Mark 1 he wanted to play 4-3-3 but lacked the wingers. Van Persie was just breaking through, so he played Bona Kalou on the right, Pierre van H central and JD Tomasson as a shadow striker, leaving the left flank open. At Feyenoord now, he plays 4-3-3 when he can. I think V Persie will look forward to repaying his debt to Bert van Marwijk
