Van der Sar to retire after EC08
Edwin van der Sar has said he’ll retire from Oranje after the EC 2008 in Switzerland and Austria.
Sar made his debut in 1995 and is currently record-capped player with 121 international games.
Van der Sar can sign a new contract for the Mancunians. Ferguson wants Edwin to stay on till 2009. The former Ajax and Juventus goalie will decide in December.

He’s had a good long career, and not that I’m being rude, but I’m kinda glad he’s retiring, and giving Stekeleneburg, and Waterman some time to get international caps. Also young goalies will add to our already young team, and come wc 2010, we should have a team completely under age 27.

I’ve got some other news, that I don’t really know where to put. Apparently Patrik Kluivert is looking to sign in the MLS (where most injury prone old guys go). An Ajax player by the name of Geoffrey Castillion, scored 5 out of the u-17 netherlands 7 goals, and Rodney Sneijder didn’t get to play any time. Ajax is also looking to sign Macauley Chrisantus, the u-17 nigerian star.

agree Dirk; BUT its quit a change when your goalie leaves the team..esp. a goalie that has been around for so long (i remember his first game v Belarus when he made a terrible mistake by coming out of his goal too far)
it will take any goalie some time to get to vdSars confidance level
think Stekelburg is doing quit well lately, he ofcourse doenst have the experience but other than vdSar he does have precence in goal
MLS?? is that Major Legeua Soccer??? guess Kluivert wants to party with Beckham and posh!!
