That is not something you can "rationally" adjust. Sometimes, as a coach, you need to make tough choices, like Van der Kuylen / Van Hanegem in the 70s, or Netzer/Overath in Germany. You had the different Mollers in Germany (Hansi and Dieter?? )... Genghini / Platini. Lampard/Gerrard. Totti/Del Pierro. There's many examples where the team manager didn't want too many captains on board. With Vaart, Persie, Sneijder, Seedorf, Van Bommel you'd have that. Add Sar and Gio to the mix and you need some smart psychology to make everybody except their roles. I think the WC1990 was partly a disgrace for us, due to that too. Rijkaard, Koeman, Van Basten, Gullit, Vanenburg, Schip... They were all the big boys in their respective club teams (AC Milan, Barca, PSV, Ajax). And that's what coaches call balance as well. Not just defense or offense but also waterbearers and stars... Eleven stars not win titles do you, Yoda said :-).
