Van Basten bypassed Sneijder

November 16th, 2006 | By: Jan | 3 Comments »

Dutch newspaper AD published a story yesterday, that Wesley Sneijder didn’t let the England came pass because of minor knee injuries! Van Basten passed him by. Van Basten didn’t select him, with the story for the press: “He’s injured.”. But the AD paper found that Sneijder had informed van Basten that “yes, he had some minor injuries, but he would be fit to play against England.” To his surprise, Sneijder was informed that he wasn’t needed, since San Marco had the hungry Seedorf waiting in the wings. Sneijder’s club Ajax confirmed this story.

Strange? Confused? You won’t be after Oranje’s next game, in February…. (WE ALL HOPE…)

dnt understand, van Basten used to like two attacking midfielders (sneijder, van der Vaart), then why not seedorf and sneijder. against england it was lanzaart and schaars (two defensive) with seedorf.

Each manager has his own tactics in mind, but dnt think it’s working…

Marco’s defence looked so shakey even with two defensive mid-fields. A pity.
