Today’s Matches

The English Premiership’s last weekend of matches gives a bunch of Dutch players one last good chance to impress van Basten. Here’s a look of how the players are involved.

Manchester United - Edwin van der Sar starts in goal while Ruud has left the stadium unexpectedly.
Liverpool - Jan Kromkamp is on the bench to start at Fratton Park
Arsenal - Robin van Persie starts on the bench.
Tottenham - Edgar Davids starts.
Chelsea - Arjen Robben is back with the team and starts today.
Middlesbrough - George Boateng will not be involved.

Ajax and PSV also face each other today in the Dutch Cup. For Ajax Stekelenburg, Heitinga, Emanuelson, Huntelaar, Sneijder all start while for PSV Ooijer, Vennegoor of Hesselink and Cocu get the nod.

We’ll see how all these players fare today. Its crunch time.

Arjen de Zeeuw has always seemed to me to be a pretty solid and tidy defender. He did well for Portsmouth, and his move to Wigan coincided with Pompey’s flirtation with relegation, not to mention Wigan’s overachievement this season. Any opinions on why he’s been overlooked for national duty?

I don’t think he plays for a high profile enough club. The fact is that the teams he plays for still lose a lot of games.
