he guys, thin Jan is right, beeing kicked out 4 times on penalties is no bad luck, guess after rhe firt time against Denmark it became a mental issue(esp. cause our most famous striker was the one who missed), the last penalty shoot-out against Italy I didnt even watch because I new the result already (esp. after missing two penalties in regular time.).
but lets not forget that we won against Sweden last time around so lets hope its not an issue anymore...

as to the comparison with the '74 team I think is prety useless, different times ,I think the '74 team realy was kind of a revolution in world football but the 'total football'can only be played when all players now what to do, have the qualities to exucute it and are used to eachother(big part of'74 team was from Ajax and they new eachother very well)
This team of 2006 is young and has very little experience on Worldcup level.Guess the only simularity is that as well as in 2006 there were little expectations in 1974 for the team to do well (altough Ajax had won 3 european cups)

Good news from our German friends, Ballack is out for the first match!! LOL

Think the least we talk about '90 the better. Saw an interview with Van Basten yesterday, they asked him about 1990 and he said: "asked me something else, it was all bad, i dont want to talk about it."

Luckily it looks like this time around we at least have a real team!

No real news from the injury camp this moment, if anything shows up i'll let you all now.Coco left training yesterday after 10 minutes and was seen shaking his head..

Guys, im getting exited, just a couple of days!!!

Hey Alaa, in 74 the ref did help a bit. A dive of Holzenbein was rewarded with a penalty kick. But we did play lousy that match, compared to our other matches that event. In 78 it was clear that Argentina needed to win... But losing with penalty kicks 4 times in a row is not bad luck, and you know it...

Interesting stuff. And I do agree, this squad doesn't compare with the 74 squad. But then again, in '90 we all thought the team was better than the 74 team and we didn't win one single match!!! So....WHO KNOWS

we always did not have any bit of luck, i just hope this time we have some luck guys.
in 1992 we lost against denmark in penalties, 1996 against frace penalties, 1998 against brazil penalties, 2000 against italy penalties, isn't that bad luck???????????
and in 1974 we lost the final to the hosts(germany), in 1978 we lost to argentina who were the hosts. and even if i didn't watch the 74 and 78 final but am sure that the refree were easy on germany and argentina because they were hosts.
so far, it is only bad luck, lets hope well this time.
