The Head is off :-)

June 10th, 2006 | By: Jan | 11 Comments »

A translation of often used Dutch cliche “De Kop is Er Af”… Which obviously means: we’ve started!! And how we started, eh? Good things… 6 goals in 2 matches, not a bad trend to start. Best openings-match in a long time, I’d say. On another positive note: yes, Oranje’s defense is shaky, but have you see The Germans??? And, next Wednesday, we have Poland up against Germany and Poland needs to win. And Costa Rica needs to go at it against Equador, so more exciting matches to come…
Your opinions on the first day?

well, i think the games were good today. the geramans have the worst defence i’ve ever seen in the world cup. and now am looking for to tomorrow’s game(argentina_cote d’ivoire) and i hope it ends 1_1.i think this way both argentina and cote d’ivoire lose 2 points so we can take advantage of this.

Yes lets hope for a 1-1 result tomorrow. I’m looking forward to watching England play aswell, but is it just me or with Rooney out isn’t it madness not to play 4-5-1? I mean england have the best midfielders in the world. Playing Carrick deep, would allow the superb lampard and gerrard free reign.

It wasnt six golas but 8. 4-2 to germany, n 2-0 to ecuador. But the germans defence is absolute balls. But there attacking midfield and attack is pretty good if i might say. there fourth goal was an absolute beauty. i dont know what his name is, but he had long hair and shot from long distance.

i though Costa Rico was a discrace to the World Cup, one of the worst teams i ever saw on a world Cup, those lucky german basterds,im sure the draw was a hoax… the germans wouldnt have won one game in our group, there patatic!!! But ofcourse they have the perfect draw!!

i was wondering were my anti-german feeling were, i found them!! hate the germans!!

Holland b.t.w. is looking fine, no big worries looks like they are all fit tp play on sunday..

Gonna watch the English, think for the first time ever they realy have a good change of gooing all the way and i think for the first time they believe it themselfs!! (forget ‘66,when England stole the worldcup, but this time……

grtz to all, just one more day!!

Sorry guys, it was 8 of course. It was late. Or early, rather, here Down Under. Torsten Frinks scored that goal, goose.

I found their intentions okay. They really tried to attack and sometimes played with 4 people up front. I’ve seen them play much more negative in the past (1990, 1996). So that was good. I do think their defense is dramatic and also their positioning. I mean, the fact that they don’t have top defenders is one thing, but the way the defenders position themselves is trainable. That’s more Klinsmann’s responsibility, in my view. I don’t think they have the class to become champs, but they’re a tough team. I think the Poland - Germany match will be exciting!

Holland? Why do you hate the Germans? Jealous? They have 3 world cups. How many does Holland have?

The Dutch hate all things German, and always have. Maybe if they spent more time being positive, their team would feed off of it. And while this may not be the best German team, they’s still beat Holland in the competition, because they always do and the best the Dutch can ever do is runner-up.

@CF and DB,
maybe its a thing wich we are born with..
we’re still a bit pissed about ‘74, should have won and i think its a very healthy thing to hate your big neighbour..thats what we do

btw, would love to play them this WC, sure victory…

CF: your question is part of the answer, ofcourse we’re jealous, we get credit all the time for our attacking style but we never win (ex. ‘88)

And i wont mention the war!!! (lol)
