That’s just not nice…

I’m all about feeling the love between footballing nations so this isn’t nice. On the other hand, I can say without hesitation that I get it. I understand the passion but all of this anti-German business treads an uncomfortable line. I will admit though that I allowed myself a discreet chuckle at one or two points.

Oh and what on earth is Korfball?

it is not nice at all,the rivalry should stay in the soccer games between the two teams.
as i told you yesterday am not ducth but i am an obsessed dutch fan, and every time the dutch played agianst the germans, i was very nervous because those games were always very decisive, especially in the 90’s, remember “1974,1988,1990″, but the best one ever was the one we won 3_1 in sweden 1992. the dutch played a wonderful game. and for me the team we had in 1992 was the best team we’ve ever had, if you get the possibility watch some of their games, they were really perfect. unfortunately we lost in the semifinal to the danish and it was only because we underestimated them.

by the way guys, do you know why i am so optimistic about this world cup?
because it is played in germany and if you notice the brightest moments of the dutch football were always in the tournaments played in germany the famous 1974 world cup and the foundation of the total football that amazed the world, and then the 1998 which gave us the european championship. so who knows maybe the third tournament in germany will give us the world cup title:)

Don’t forget another disaster in a Holland-Germany showdown: Johan Cruyff’s farewell match with Ajax, against Bayern Munich. The Germans humiliated the Dutch Master by winning, in Amsterdam!!, with 0-8, thus ruining the party. That was another display of hostility between Dutchies and Germans…
I remember the game well and I was distraught…

BTW, Korfball is a sort of Netball. It’s a mixed sports. Girls and Boys in the same team. For this reason, macho men in Holland don’t take the sport serious and if you can’t play football, they tease you with: maybe you should take up Korfbal? My 10 year old nephew wanted to play korfbal, but his dad told him never ever to say that again :-)

So much history…so much rivalry…If the Dutch meet the Germans in the quarter finals it will be huge there is no way around it.
