Love reading your in depth stuff about the players’ characters, Jan. Really hard to judge that when you don’t know Dutch. Well deserved award.

Hey guys, if it wasn’t for me I was this pathetic bloke with too much time on his hands, man…

You make me do all this, by responding, challenging, celebrating, mourning and what have you…

It’s you that make this little motor run!

I didn’t even know this award this existed… Did you guys vote or anything?

It’s cool if it’s real… :-)

Congratulations Jan. Truly deserved and I second (or third after Tiju)Finn’s ‘drug’ comment. Many times a day! And to all the ‘usual suspects’ I thank you as well. There are many of us out there that ‘hang out’ for your comments on this blog that have helped Jan make it what it is. Outstanding effort!

Somehow I don’t think any of the big 4 in the EPL will be that interested in a player who has hardly played recently and who is still considered a flop around Europe recently (even though many people do admit he’s a good player or that he was good in the past for Hamburg).

Maybe he’ll reconsider Tottenham’s offer if they continue their good form up until the winter transfer window, that will be some improvement for Tottenham and they might secure a top 4 spot at the end of the season together with vdVaart, allthough 5 or 6 will be more likely. At least he won’t really need any European competition experience to earn back his spot for the WC since he’s got enough of that, all he needs is gamerythm. Tottenham would be a nice club for him (and he’ll have European competition next year again if he really wants that).

But I think if Hamburg showed some interest he’d go there in an instant. He’s already indicated only to be interested in England or Germany.

By the by
i will pray for some injuries at the time of WC2010.hope Following players get injured and it will become the good for orange.
1.Gio vani
2.ooiger
3.Heitinga
4.Van bommel(Even though he is playing well,he will not win WC for us).
I doubt on RVN and VDS are they able to win the cup for us?VDS is a poor penalty stoper..
when will Znijder loose his selfishness?.
When will BVM understand that kuyt is not a central striker?..

VDS WAS a poor penalty stopper, he’s really good at it now, especially when it matters most (Champions League for Man.U, the Holland – Sweden penalty shootout in EC 2004).

I’d be more worried about RvN since he’ll hardly get a chance to play at Madrid and I doubt he’ll move anywhere else for now.

@Sol – do you think PSV would take a chance in January and bring Old Horsey Face back to Holland for a run at the title? That would get him match fit for WC-2010 and he may even be agreeable to it! I agree with Spurs making a play for Vaart at the transfer window, he can’t be stupid enough not to take the chance to get out of Real Shitrid again!

@Tij – not sure if you pray to Ganeesh or another god for football injuries but whoever it is that is not in good taste! I hate Ooijer in Oranje as much as anyone but to pray for an injury is LOW!

Can you imagine what this place will be like in June 2010 if Oranje start the way they did at Euro-08?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

nah, don’t think RvN is going anywhere. I wouldn’t, nice weather, good salary, no hassle moving back to Holland.

Allthough, a chance at eternal glory might be more important for him. Guess we’ll see at the transfer window.

Here’s a question related to this topic. Why is it you think this blog attracts so much more reasonable or intelligent conversations and discussions than for example http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal (where I occasionally check up on the latest news)?

Is it the international character of this blog or is it the type of people that read the telegraaf a lot and therefore are most likely to post there? Don’t really see why others don’t want to post there, other than the fact perhaps that any attempt at any reasonable conversation is already been made futile by these type of silly comments that seem to plague all threads/topics there (pardon the dutch, too much too translate, I was checking up on Robben’s injury and noticed these comments, but I always notice these type of comments there in any topic):

Topic: Robben haakt af met blessure

“Het val wel erg op dat wanneer zijn team verliest, hij altijd wel iets mankeert. ”

“Stelletje jankers zijn het. Allemaal hogere toneelschool gehad die voetballers. Zelf gewoon half seizoen met gebroken teen gevoetbalt. Niets aan de hand. Ze moeten een regel invoeren verzorging nodig buiten het veld is 5 min erbuiten blijven. zal wel schelen denk.”

“Stop toch met voetballen man! Of zijn je zakken nog niet genoeg gevuld. Onbegrijpelijk ook dat clubs er steeds weer intrappen om deze sukkelaar een vet contract te bieden. Absoluut geen enkele meerwaarde. Ja voor de (para)medici, die hebben er een dagtaak aan om dit suikermannetje steeds weer op te lappen. Een typische psv-jankerd.”
