Starting Line-up vs. Luxembourg

September 2nd, 2006 | By: Mike | 18 Comments »

Well it turns out Landzaat is in the squad in an attempt to make up the numbers in the midfield. The eleven is as follows:

van der Sar

Heitinga, Ooijer, Mathijsen, de Cler

Landzaat, Schaars, Janssen

van Persie, Huntelaar, Kuyt.

We’re only about seven minutes away from the Oranje’s beginning of their European campaign.

HEY GUYS
IM WATCHING THE MATCH AND IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD FOR HOLLAND
THEY ARE WINNING BUT BARELY AGAINST LUXEMBURG. I MEAN THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD SCORED LIKE 5 AGAINST A TEAM LIKE THAT. HUNTELAAR IS HORRIBLE AND kUYT THE SAME. CMON THE GOAL CAME FROM A DEFENDER(mATHIJSEN). oUR ATTACK IS THE WORST. i EXPECTED MORE FROM HUNTELAAR BUT I THINK HE IS COMPLETLY OUT OF SHAPE.
SO WE SHOULD JUST THANK VAN BASTEN FOR LEAVENG van NISTELROOIJ OUT AND DESTROYING THE TEAM

I think you’re over-reacting. You’re obviously upset - hence the shouting - but keep in mind that the midfield is make-shift at best.

It will take a while before the players gel together. Dismissing a goal from a defender is foolish as well. Would you do the same for a goal from F. de Boer or Koeman or Haan? A successful team gets goals from all over the pitch.

I think this was more of a tune up game than anything, no need to panic. Keep in mind as well that we are missing Robben and Van der Vaart, who both play very large roles for us. Congrats to Mathijsen and the Oranje and keep up the good work.

Yea, they got the three points. So cheers for that.

But, Lando is totally right about oranje playing lousy. Luxembourg could have scored two already.

Where’s Klaas Jan? He was amazing two weeks ago? WTF?

van Basten will probably blame the poor quality of the pitch or something like that.. :)

Luxembourg is ranked 195 in the fifa world ranking, with only 4 countries behind it. The Netherlands have a total of 1319 points more than Luxembourg…

it’s seems at club level it would be a club playing with another one 8-10 leagues under. A 1-0 win was a minimum.

I decided I am not going to leave a post here. I am not going to say anything. Not about KJ, not about Bommel, Nistelrooy, San Marco. Nothing. As if it didn’t happen. I am silently going to enjoy the 3 points. And prepare for my analysis. If we win the EC in 2008, I am going to make a case, that this dreadful, shameful performance was vital for every one to wake up. That thanks to this game we ended up being the best in the world and that Marco is a genius… Oh yeah, I can feel my mojo running already…

one of the worst games i ever saw Oranje play and i havent missed a single match since 1988!!

Unbelievable, pathatic. embarrassing

Defence: Ooijer and Mathijssen and Heitinga played so weak against a amateur striker, Ooijer was subsituted at half time, Heitinga almost scored a bizar own goal and Mathijssen wasnt able to give one decent ball to the attack

midfield: i say it again: Landzaat has nothing to do in Oranje, hes just not good enough.. Jansen idem (and hes to fat!), Schaars is the only one with potential altough he played crap aswell

attack: Marco got it wrong (again), stupid to let vanPersie en Kuijt change sides…what you need against this kind of opposition is crosses from the wings…now Kuijt stood isolated on the left hand side and vanPersie turned into the centre were there was no room at all….

i’ve seen some crappy games from het nederlands elftal in my days (Belarus, England, Czechs) but this one tops them all…

EMBARRASSING, EMBARRASSING

vanBasten told the press that he was surprised that this team was able to play this bad….wrong selection Marco!!!!!!

ashamed to be dutch, f#cking Luxembourgh!!!!!!

I am ashamed of this … But as bad as Luxembough can get, its a football a game. anything can happen.

I am happy cause it happened against Luxembough and we escaped with 1-0 win … this should be the slap on the face to wake up Marco and the players.

Even if Marco selected ALKMAR to play againt a semi-pro team, ALKMAR should be able to win by 5 goals. The issue here ..did they play their full or not ?

With all the guys missing, from Van Der Vart, Wisly, Robben in the middle, that cuases distrupption for Holland.

Marco should consider Subs like Makaay or Davids (even he is shitty) but rather than having unknowns from the dutch league to play becuase he building for the future. I guess you can do this when u manage a club .. (I.e. Arsenal …) But when u coach a Country, you have every single dutch player to play.

Its ODD

… well van basten’s still got belarus on wednesday to redeem himself. Otherwise, I seriously suggest he should completely shift the way he has been managing this team.

This was an injury-plagued team last night, we all know that.. But a poor 1-0 scoreline against luxembourg just shows the absolute lack of depth in our dutch squad.

Guess, Im still waiting. Still waiting…

i am very disappointed too. the oranje doesn’t need van basten. i was happy when he became the team manager, but now i think even dick advocaat was better. pity that the two best coaches have seious jobs: hiddink and rijkaard. who could be the best man for van basten’s job? ronald koeman? adrianse? eventually luis van gaal?

@ferenc, my dream manager would be Hiddink, i have great respect for and faith in him… but it will be a wait anyway,

dont know about Koeman or Adriaanse, the latter i think is a real club-manager…but in the future maybe Koeman or Rijkaard..

lets see what Belarus will bring us, if we play anything like saturday well surely lose!!

I think that most of young players (robben, van de vaart, sneider e.t.c.)but robbin in difference with them plays good in all games. If you watch robben for example , when he is not injuried maybe anyone defence can stop him.But he is not a standart player, he plays good in 1 game and the rest 10 he doesn’do nothing.Robin always does something.a goal, a pass . . .He knows about ball, he is technique, strong ,fast ,full of energy and he can play and all attack positions.

Also I want to say that it is wo nice to watch his style.(Vpersie’s).He is so talent, all his goals are brilliant. Henry had been said:I don’t see often goals, movements, style like Robin’s.I like also Van de Vaart and Emmanuelson and i want to see them in Oranjie.About Marko:I believe there are coaches that i wouid prefer like hidding but that is not the point.I like that Marko prefer the young players but i think that a player like Seedorf would give his experience and the feeling of the winner.I believe that this team can go too far…They are talents, but i expect more from players that i watch them to play perfectly at theier clubs(sneider, van de vaart, haitinga, robben)but they are not the same players in nederlands team. Why?It iw only Marko ’s fault?
