van Basten is a smart guy. He realizes that only real weakness in the Dutch side is the defence. So he tried to convince Stam to come back. I can’t blame him really. He is still putting in strong performances for Milan and will continue to do so for Ajax next season.

Certianly would’ve added some experience. Still think MvB could do worse than call on Arjan de Zeeuw. Wigan and Portsmouth may not be world-beaters, but AdZ’s been pretty damn good playing against Premiership strikers.

Ya, its interesting stuff. I have trouble understanding why someone would pass up the opportunity to go to the World Cup.

Yeah, I don’t understand why he passed either. I wonder if his AC Milan compatriot Seedorf talked him out of it.

I agree with Arjan de Zeeuw. I’m surprised to see he hasn’t been called up.
