Spectacular Action on the European Pitches

Well, well…where does one begin?

Guus Hiddink’s Russia got an even tighter position in their EC qualification group! Well done, Guss… 4-0 against Andorra.

Don Leo Beenhakker’s Poland won 3-1 against Azerbedjan (after 60 minutes 0-1 down). Poland like Russia is well on their way to Austria/Switzerland ‘08.

Wales played The Czech Republic in Cardiff and drew 0-0. It was Ryan Giggs’ game. The Man United captain played his last cap and left the pitch in tears. He did have a huge chance to score, but Chelsea goalie Peter Cech stopped him from getting his name on the score-sheet in his last game.

Germany won easily against San Marino 6-0 . Our neighbours from the East scored their 6 goals in 22 minutes!

Sweden and Denmark played a very exciting game indeed! Sweden was 3-0 up against the Danish, but the Danes fought back and got the 3-3 on the score-board, only for the match to explode, when Swede Rosenberg was hit by a Dane Poulsen. Poulsen was sent off and a penalty was awarded to Sweden, but the ref had to stop the match when a Danish fan ran on to the pitch with his aim to sort the ref out :-). Danish players could stop the fan (some people say it was Cantona, others think it was Gascoigne) and the ref cancelled the match. Sweden will probably get a 3-0 win…
