Sneijder leaves for Madrid… oh hang on…no he doesn’t…
Confusion in the Dutch media. Henk ten Cate said to the AD newspaper that he expects Sneijder to leave. The king is dead, long live the King. For Henk ten Cate elaborated on potential replacements in the team, about the upcoming CL qualifier and the strength of the Ajax youth system.
At the same time, other media report that Madrid pulled their offer back. Apparently, Madrid didn’t want to screw around. The message to Ajax was: we offer 24 Mio and that’s that (Ajax asked for 30 Mio). We won’t negotiate. You have 3 hours to say yes.
Ajax, as it seems, and Wesley Sneijder both said no to that ultimatum and Real Madrid took the offer from the table.
“I don’t know what type of game they’re playing but we’re not happy with this approach and neither is Wesley,” said Martin van Geel, Ajax’s technical director. According to some media, Real Madrid even apologized to Ajax for their blunt approach. “I think they put another offer to another player somewhere and that player (and the club) must have said yes…”
Rumours have it that Chelsea and Robben came to an agreement about a move of Arjen Happy Feet.

Sneijder is on his way to Madrid. Looks official now. I think this is very good news for Oranje fans. The more Dutch players who play together in club football the better. Now we’ll have to wait and see if Schuster can nab VanderVaart sometime in the near future. That would be amazing…
