Sneijder: I didn’t deserve this treatment by Real Madrid!

Wesley Sneijder didn’t want to be too negative about Real Madrid, yesterday when questioned by Italian sports journo’s.

Last Wednesday, Sneijder had a farewell dinner with his team mates and after that occasion one reporter got a negative soundbite: “Real didn’t need to treat me like this. That’s all I will say about it.”

The Utrecht born arrived in Milan yesterday, with a private airplane. His first statements – in English – were clear: “I’m happy to be in Milan. Internazionale is a big club.”

He confirmed that he had intensive contact with Mourinho. “I was in constant contact with him via sms. He’s the reason why I’m here. He has a distinct plan and I fit in that. I’m happy with his support.”

And: “I don’t get why Real Madrid treated me like this. Pellegrini told me from the start that he thought I deserved a spot in his group. He always like me as a player and felt Madrid could benefit from my presence. But other people call the shots, so much is clear. It hurts, not in terms of pride or ego because I am a big boy now. But it hurts because I highly enjoyed my time in Madrid.”

Sneijder had one day to turn the switch in his head. “But it’s not hard. It’s not like I’m going back in level. I’m going from one top club to the other. Inter Milan is among the best in the world, their coach is renowned, the selection is strong, Milan is a football city and the San Siro is a tremendous venue. I’ll enjoy myself here too.”

Sneijder couldn’t say if he’d play this weekend. “I do hope so. Why not start immediately? I am fit. But, it’s the coach’ decision. I haven’t spoken to Mourinho about it yet, so we’ll see.”

Sneijder is playing for Inter at the moment. Hunter on the bench.

OMG Robben+Ribery=CL for the taking :)
Really I don’t care that it’s Inter and Bayern. I’m just relieved that Robben and Sneijder won’t be Madrid or in the news everyday anymore, ffing morons in Madrid, selling 2 of their best players of recent years, who Pellegrini wanted to keep. Talk about disrespect towards you’re manager.
Only still in my mind V.d.Vaart would have been perfect for Bayern, but no more room there for him. Though we might see a Ribery-V.d.Vaart switch in the future.
BTW Heitinga to Everton would be weird, cause he plays almost everything for Atletico and then they would sell him for half of what they bought him for, I don’t trust Telegraaf, sh*tty newspaper.
It’s good Loovens is in, I hope he’ll play for Ooijer in the next match. He’s a good option for us, looked very strong against Arsenal in CL, better than the other Celtic defenders.
Does this sound bad?:
Braafheid-Mathijsen-Loovens-Heitinga
Well V.d.Wiel would be a better “attacking” RB, but V.Marwijk doesn’t like to switch to often.

I have always said that Robben is a fantastic player and when he is fit he is the best winger in the world. Hopefully he can continue playing like this and that injuries respect him so he can have a great year with an excellent World Cup.

Sneijder got a standing ovation from the crowd, but I didn’t see the first half, so I can’t really judge. And Huntelaar has come on and he looks the only threat for Milan. And what about Robben!!! 2 Goals in 45 minutes against the champions! I am thoroughly excited to see one of our ex-Real dutchies knock Real out of the Champions League.

@bobotoh: Sneijder was good however he’s not involved in the goals. I don’t know why Huntelaar was on the bench while ronaldinho and Borriello was playing

Well Fares, I saw Milan and I thought Huntelaar looked more dangerous than Borriello and co when he came on.

It would appear that a pregame meal of Bratwurst and Sourkrout agree with Mr. Robben!

VVV-Venlo drew their 5′th game in a row to start the season today. What is the Eredivisie record for this?

@Goose: If you think Man U was lucky (and yes they were, I watched it), how about Spurs undeservedly winning on a crap goal 5 mins in injury time against Birmingham?

The other match I watched was ‘pool away to Bolton. Babel nowhere to be seen, including not even the bench. I wonder if he actually may still be sold? Strange that he wasn’t on the bench. In any event, Bolton showed how to play Liverpool by man marking Gerrard the whole match until they went down to 10 men (extremely cheaply), and then Liverpool and Gerrard took over. Kuyt was OK, had a tremendous assist on ‘pool’s first goal by chesting the ball to Torres inside the box, but other than that nothing great though, his usual running up and down the pitch performance.

babel should just go back to ajax on a year loan.

sneijder was great – he had two terrible shots, was good with his passes, but had problems with the free kicks. gattuso got his red card after tackling sneijder. nice start.

in milan only seedorf and huntelaar did all right – obviously they were not brilliant but better than their teammates. both of them were substitutes.

It was an undeserved win by Man U wasn’t it? Although both teams didn’t play well. I think I saw Babel warming up actually, in the first half?

I didn’t think the penalty (ManU’s) was a penalty and that own goal was a shocker of a header! Van Persie was unlucky with his free kick on the bar.

And then now a big question for me:

I don’t get why Wenger lets Van Persie play so deep. He is hardly able to engage in the build up (I always think he’s an ideal playmaker) and is always so tightly marked… Why is this?

I’d play Van Persie on Fabregas position. He’s got vision, lungs, legs, great passing skills and like Cesc he’d be able to commit himself upfront. I just don’t get it. Why doesn’t Wenger play a real striker?

@Jan: With Cesc out, Van Persie was tightly marked all game and had to drop deep (just like Gerrard in the Bolton game). The problem was nobody else seemed to step up and use the space created by him dropping back. That is Arsenal’s main problem. With Cesc out, all you have to do is take out Van Persie and there is very few or nobody dangerous left to beat you. Certainly no real leadership on the field. And what about the hypocritical French baguette being sent off in the end? That was priceless, including seeing him in the stands next to two Man U fans, one of which was trying to hand over his glasses to him :-) I haven’t laughed that much in a long time

As far as Babel is concerned, that must have been a mirage you saw because he was not even listed as a sub. Maybe he felt he just needed a run so he could stay fresh for his rap recordings? :-)

We all saw Robben – but Braafheid came on in the second half too. Did quite OK !!

Yeah finn, it’s a weakness for sure. Arshavin didn’t look to good, slow and a bit chubby. Nice goal though, although he should have had a penalty I think. Arsenal didn’t get what they deserved.

babel is on liverpool so he couldn’t have been warming up in the man u- arsenal game if that is what you are talking about.

arsenal have bendter but he is not that good.

with

denilson fabregas song

walcott v.persie arshavin

they have a good team. just missing aireal ability

why isn’t there more news on vdv? he has to move in 2 days or else not play all season.

anyways it has been a good transfer season cause huntelaar sneijder and robben all made good moves.

I think Robben is an immense talent, but he has some sort of feminine style.

@Jan and finn, the problem with Arshavin is that he is hot/cold, exactly as he was against Holland. He drifs in and out o matches and that is a real problem for Arsenal. After having watched all leading 4 teams in the Prem, I really think they all could benefit from VDV, especially Liverpool and Man U. there is no creative role at all at Man U and Gerrard is another overrated player. He received 8 on Goal.coam when he should have had a 5.5 because of his goal. All he knows how to do is shoot from long distance. He has got a rocket of a shot but nothing else. Finn is also right as Babel was not even on the bench.
Great performance by Robben and the partnership with Ribery could become the most lethal one in Europe. The ESPN Deportes announcer was full of praise for him and said many times that he was one of the best in the world. They also joked about Valdano and Perez “are you watching?”. Anyway, it is fantastic for Wes, Robben and KJH. There will be plenty of opportunities for these guys to show Real how good they are…and of course the ultimate will be when we beat Spain in the WC!

I don’t know…. Spain is more like Barca to me… Real Madrid has hardly any Spanish players… Raul, Sergio Ramos and Casillas?

I did know Babel plays for Pool, thank you :-)

I think we were mixing up our remarks about the two games…

Jan: now madrid has arbeloa, albiol, xabi alonso and granero as well (new signings) – they’re in the squad. but you’re right – spain plays more like barca.

i’m really, really scared about vdv’s future. no news about him. to be honest,i even prefer to see him at besiktas than in madrid. at least at besiktas we would see him playing. or – as Jan wrote – he should come to barca in the last minutes. could he play left winger? pep desperately tries to get someone for backing up thierry henry.
what’s wrong with babel? i haven’t been following him for 6-8 months. is he really that bad and useless?

Babel isn’t useless, he has the potential of an incredible striker, but isn’t playing enough to really improve or excell .
