Sneijder advices Schuster to sign Huntelaar

March 15th, 2008 | By: Jan | 3 Comments »

In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Welsey Sneijder is asked about Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Would he advice Bernd Schuster to sign the Ajax striker?
“Without a doubt. Huntelaar will make the move this summer to a European topclub and I think he would fit well in Madrid. The guy is super! A killer. I’ve never seen a player with that kind of efficiency. He scores one goal per game on average. And even in Holland that is quite a feat.”

Sneijder is happy in Madrid, but feels the best is yet to come. “I played all my life at Ajax. A proctective environment for me. I still think about that perioid every now and then. I think that’s just normal. It wasn’t easy to make the adjustment. Real Madrid is a higher level, a new country, language and culture.. A different way of playing for me and of course better opponents. I am not disappointed with myself, certainly not, but I can do better. I hope to be able to show the fans.”

It’s true, Huntelaar would benefit a lot from having playmakers like Guti, Sneijder, and Robinho behind him. Especially playing in a 4-1-3-2 like Schuster likes to when he has all his players fit. Even if his first year he had minimal playing time, eventually Raul or van Nistelrooy will lose their touch, and get bumped behind him, and it definitly will be sooner rather than later.
