Seedorf’s back! Oh, hang on…he isn’t…
And there it was…. Seedorf in conversation with the Dutch tv, about the fact that Marco van Basten neglected him in the last two years, while the former Ajax and Real Madrid star was on a roll. “I can’t say too much about Oranje now. You’re too early with those questions. Give me two weeks and I can go into this subject more in detail. Talk to me then, ok?”
Now this got every one going… Coz, even if Seedorf wasn’t the most succesful international, he is a hell of a player. Probably still getting better and better. Was Marco really reeling him back in? Wouldn’t that be great?
Reporters quickly made their way to Zeist. Where a spokesperson of the federation (Kees Jansma?) said: “We do not know what Seedorf is talking about. As far as we are concerned, van Basten has not talked to Seedorf about coming back to the squad, neither does he (van Basten) have any plans to do so. End of story.”
What??
Seedorf then went on the record to say that the media were taking ten steps too many.
Meaning what exactly?
Still, the idea of having Seedorf back in midfield would be awesome… Although most pundits think there is no real midfield problem anymore. Check out my next post on Robin van Persie…

nice latest news, vanNistelrooy wants to play for the Olympic dutch team under coach Foppe de Haan (ex Heereveen)
he told dutch press during the fieldhockey WC in Spain that he wants to play in the Olympics!!! hahahaha, we could have a great Olympian team (I think you can call 3 senior players), now only vanBommel and Seedorf!!

Seedorf deserves that spot in midfield. He is slow but has enormous technical and physical abilities.. And the Experience!!
Its weird that you say most pundits don’t think Oranje has a midfield problem anymore. What I have been seeing for months now is only that.
All in all, seedorf or no seedorf, I anticipate a significant change to take place before our next fixture in march against romania. After that, it will be too late in my opinion and if nothing still happens by then I fear to have to endure another disappointing Euro experience in 2008.
There is a problem. Everyone can see it. It’s about time MVB pulls his shit together and starts shaping things.
I still have confidence in our manager… till march 24th, holland - romania.

Seems obvious to me what Seedorf is going to do. van Basten hasnt called him, but he is going to call van Basten to discuss the matter.

Can someone explain we Orange don’t have mid-field problem anymore?

seedorf’s only good if oranje played 4-4-2… otherwise he is pretty useless as we have seen in the past… but with our midfield now i will accept anyone… even Zenden…

Zenden??? Lets be serious, we need some fysical strong players and not all these little boys (though they are great players), vanBasten f$cked up, lets face it,
im sure hell never pick Seedorf while hes bondscoach, hes far to sure of himself, thats the problem,,
well never get far in euro 2008 with this team, its to weak

Personally I think this will happen. Nigel de Jong is again injured. VdV and Sneijder are too similar as players and Seedorf has said all the right things in regards to this lately. I also feel that we are on the verge of a change in strategy by van Basten; Simply again because with the way things are developing it makes too much sense. I think we will end up with a 2 striker system before long with Huntelaar and van Persie up front. VdV, Seedorf, Sneijder and Schaars in the middle. Robben is imo losing steam fast, both in Oranje and at his club and I would not at all be surprised if he will be left to sub.
That people would be a pretty strong midfield and a great duo of strikers.
Wait for it…

I donno why he wasnt selected to go to the wrold cup, if your good enough for milan, your good enough for your country

What about Lanzaat? just kidding. Robben will not be taken out of the starting lineup.

marco should try seedorf. what about a seedorf, vdv(sneijder),schaars, robben midfield? 4-4-2 seems better than the 4-3-3
of course, wizh the leadership of clarence seedorf who’s getting better and better and more mature than in the time when he played for oranje. he’s the number 10 of ac milan - marco should notice that, especially because it seems he forgets that clarence plays in the same club as him…

ultimately - i’d like to see a 442 shifting quickly to a 443, like i assume takes place in chelsea, with robben playing between midfield and forward, overing both on the left hand side.
(from left to right) : robben - seedorf - sneijder - van bommel
.. What a dream come true that would be for me :)..
For all those doubting robben, please do not be ridiculous. He is still as deadly as ever, playing regularly at one of today’s best clubs, and keeping both joe cole and kalou on the bench on every fixture. As a matter of fact, I just saw him again today against portsmouth and his contribution was nothing short of amazing.
For those still insisting Seedorf is too slow or succeeds only in a 442 formation, again I feel you are being ridiculous. Seedorf’s last performances for Oranje were around 2-3 ago, if not more. We all know how much he has improved since then. He is at the peak of his game, we should get our shit together and give a fair chance.
I do not see schaars improving any time soon, vdv is injured more than he is fit, landzaat is already playing as a sub in WIGAN, de jong is playing horrible at the moment for Hamburg and has still a long way to go before he becomes worthy of a first team spot and i feel he is also definitely part of the reasons concerning Hamburg’s poor form of late..
On the other hand, van bommel is performing as good as ever before, and seedorf is at the top of his game.
I said it before, and I repeat it again. I hope and anticipate a drastic change taking place in the coming months for Oranje. A transformation is both eminent and imperative, in case we would want to aim high in 2008.
The talent is there. The quality is also there, unlike what some of you might think.. The only problem is that MvB is not making maximum use of the value he’s got in our dutch players. With the right Oranje, we could do much better. Of that I’m convinced.

van bommel, sneijder (or rather a fit vdv),seedorf, robben is my dream miedfield too. just before them van persie. and huntelaar scoring… systems are very flexible: 442 can easily transform into 433 or whatever…

@Rami
what do you expect in terms of transformation? Do you expect MvB to leave or do you expect MvB to change?

Australia

Well i hope he would make the changes himself. It’s already a bit late in the game to change staff right now with the EC qualifiers already under way.
Look.. The thing is even if he thinks seedorf , van bommel and van nistelrooy are no longer worth it, he should at least make them play to prove us wrong, to prove that hes right and they suck.. Because as long as Oranje continues to play bad and Dutch supporters continue to feel that this is not the best selection available, van basten is gonna keep on looking bad and losing face.
What he needs to do now is prove us wrong.. He must show us that our nagging and insistence for him to recall seedorf and vb and vn have no merit and are poor decisions.
Everybody keeps on saying “if only Van bommel, VN, VDV, seedorf, davids, or even stam were playing we would have had a much more consistent and performant side”.. Well, unless he shows us otherwise, ppl are gonna continue to criticize him with the likes of this statement.
In the end, maybe he is right, maybe landzaat is unfortunately the best shit weve got right now. But he should at the very least stand by his argument and prove it to us because we are not the slightest convinced.

Just read de jong’s injury will rule him out for 4 weeks, which means he will not play against england.
Hehehe, are the gods maybe interfering and telling MvB to bring back seedorf??
(all the best to de jong, of course) ![]()

@Rami: you pretty much said it all rami, amen to your midfield comment ,
but im pretty sure vanBasten wont change plans though, hes much to arrogant, hes so bad with people that theres no way out for him now without losing some serious face, its all so very sad…these players wont be great in 2, 4 10 years time..never (deJong, Landzaat, Babel, maybe Maduro, maybe Schaars), we all know how this is going to end: Oranje will qualify (as 1), will play 3 games in euro 08, win one, draw two, then we get kicked out and go home and nothings gonna stop it..it sucks..i want vanBasten to go but hell stay and when hes gone the KNVB will make Danny Blind bondscoach….these are hard times my oranje loving friends..hard times

Goose is right, these are dark days for Oranje supporters, I was excited when Van Basten was empowered by the KNVB, now I am distraught, there is no hope with him in charge. He has made regretable selections, completely alienated vital players through personel clashes based on his ego, not actual performance or contribution, and even more importantly, the remaining players are playing in a trance. They are more concerned with his personal opinion of them then playing the best game they can. They know that his decisions vis a vis their status in the line-up are not based on their performance, contribution, or value as players; as much as VB personal opinion of them! This is not a good situation, this is simply a case of a bad ego-manical manager, that should be fired for the good of the national team. What is more important, a manager that already has a track record of failure and is surrounded by contraversy based on his personality clashes with key players, or the good of the national team? This not even a question just a fact. Here is another fact, Oranje will qualify for the Euro’s but will not win! Worst case scenerio, we will lose to dirty Portugal again, who should have been disqualified from the world cup for the game in Nuremburg. There is no future with Van Basten, it does not matter if we play 442 or 443, it does not matter if Seedorf plays or not, as long as Van Basten manages our team there is no hope! On the bright side I think Van Persie will be the best player in the world in the 08 world cup. So again I must look past Van Basten to salvage any hope in the future of our team.
