Seedorf’s Charm Offensive
In Voetbal Insite Clarence Seedorf was the weekly guest and he did not hesitate at all to explain he’d love a chance to get back in the Oranje jersey.
The 77 times capped AC Milan star said the Oranje chapter was not finished as far as he was concerned. He also stated that he dreamed of excelling on a big tournament with Oranje and that van Basten held the key to realising that dream. He also said he’d like a chance to show van Basten what he could add to the team. “We never worked together, and I’d love to work with him. I just hope he’ll give me a chance. He told me some times he thought other players were better than me, but how can he say that if he hasn’t tried me out? I know he told other players the same (van Bommel, van Nistelrooy – Jan) but at least they’ve had their chances”.
When the host of the show confronted the 30-year old Seedorf with quotes by van Basten about him, he appeared shocked. “Hmm….that’s not nice to hear… I am not going to respond here, via the media. I mean, I can’t really judge him since I haven’t worked with him. And I don’t think he can judge me for the same reasons….”
Marco…. Marco!! The ball is in your court, mate!

saw it on tv yesterday, i was very surprised at how eager Seedorf sounded to play for Oranje..i meself always thought he would have enough of it (also cause all of the criticm of press and public) but yesterday he sounded almost desprate, telling how he felt bad everytime there is international football, he even told the journalist that if he couldnt play for Oranje he would like to play for the olympic team (just like vanNistelrooy)
ive always had big problems with the way Seedorf performed for Oranje BUT he should have an honest change and im pretty sure hes never gonna get it from vanBasten!!
its a shame

i was dissappointed with seedorf in the 04 campaign and was glad he was finally dropped for the 06 campaign but the guy deserves at the very least a game to redeem himself… i hope he gets another chance but it appears he has a better chance of racing for his motorcycle team then playing for the dutch…

Van Baasten’s continued refusal to even give Seedorf a chance in a friendly is a disturbing sign that he’s still being too stubborn.
There is a need in the middle field. Seedorf has been an excellent midfielder for one of the top clubs in Europe for several years. And you don’t give him a shot? What message does that send to your other players?

Seedorf used to be he most hated player during last 4-5 years, we all remember. But things has changed. He has come to his last years of footballing cairrier, no up to the class in Holland any more.Means it’s time for him to wash up his past reputation to NT. It’s very nice of him to make that sweet commitment. It’s turn for Basten now to respond, and how the coach appreciate Seedorf’s offer will judge his attitude.
Initiative and creativity Vs. discipline and system play will always be the issue. Unless Basten think he don’t need and creativity from his players he will have to make a deal.
