Secret meeting between Van Basten and Van Bommel

Today, news leaked that Marco van Basten and Mark van Bommel are meeting in secret to discuss their “disagreements”.

Apparently, according to the source, Van Marwijk discussed his son-in-law with Oranje press-chef Kees Jansma, who talked to Van Basten. The latter was willing to meet with Van Bommel “for an informal talk”. The meeting takes place in Van Marwijk’s home in Limburg. The Feyenoord coach won’t be present at the talk. “It is true that Mark is devastated that he no longer plays for Oranje. I know why he decided to withdraw, but I also know he is a very emotional and passionate guy, who can say things in the spur of the moment and feel sorry a week later,” Van Marwijk commented.

It’s a well-know secret that Van Basten realizes that he needs Van Bommel, who is the best option for one of the holding positions. Van Bommel has the toughness, the smarts, and the depth to play that part well. In an earlier interview, Van Basten said: “Van Bommel at Bayern is a different Van Bommel than the one I saw at Barca. He is much more in control, much more disciplined. In his current form, he’d be an asset for Oranje.”

Van Nistelrooy is one of Van Bommel’s best mates, but Ruud van Gol didn’t want to go into the debate. “It’s a fact that Mark wants to play for Oranje and I also believe Marco would want him back. But there’s more at stake, I guess. You can’t just say sorry to each other and than it’s over and done with.”

Asked whether the group would accept Van Bommel back. “How is that relevant? It’s not about who likes who, is it? It’s about winning the EC! And with Mark, it will be easier to do so. End of story.”

Great great great news. I hope they sort things out because Mark deserves to be in the national team.

He’d do a far much better job in midfield compared to De Zeeuw or Gio.

Edwin

Kromkamp, Heitinga, Bouma, Gio

Bommel and Landzaat

Sneijder, Persie, Seedorf (Robben if fit)

Nistelrooy

Wow, ever since that swiss guy came on here advertising lodging for dutch females, now we all of a sudden have some women posters on here, haha ;-)

Miguel – Landzaat??

So Jan, is this a joke? If it is I think we might loose goose for a while again..

I don’t know what was funnier, Jan’s post (clearly an April fools’ joke, I mean would the meeting between marco and mark really take place at van marwijk’s house?) or Goose’s response: “best news since the german capitualation in ‘45″ hahaha.

I love April fools day :-) .

I’m happy that I was able to make your day, Goose, and I’m sorry to push you into depression. Funny how the blokes get carried away, while the gals keep a clear head… Classic stuff.

Haha… Like “some people say football is as important as life and death… They’re wrong. It’s much more important!”

I must say, when I was 15 years old, there was an ad in the paper that “coming Monday” there would be an open day at Sparta. With famous players, talent scouts, etc… That particular Monday was… April 1 of course. What did I know? I went, early in the morning, with some mates to find myself before the closed gates of Het Kasteel… Since then, I am always on the look out for April Fools jokes.

But Hans is right. It is sacrilege. I stand corrected!

Haha, Jan, that is a great story. I would have done the same thing I’m sure, with such big hopes and then I would have been so angry after!
