Ruud wants to go to the EC!

Goose mentioned this one too. Let’s look at what Ruud said. And start a nice thread about it. After all, it’s only a couple of weeks before we enter the so-called cucumber time. Than, all reporters - like yours truly - start to make up news in order to keep a captive audience :-).

Ruud said to the RTL7 sports program that he never officially thanked for the Oranje team. He even speculated that he’d be at the EC08. “I truly hope I’ll be part of it. We are currently in some status quo and I leave it at that for the moment. But secretly, I do think about it and I do hope we’ll sort things out before the EC08.”

Ruud is also contemplating to play for the Olympic Team if he and Marco can’t sort it out. “It’s always been a dream to participate in the Olympics. If they can get dispensation for me and if the coach (Foppe de Haan, Ruud’s former Heerenveen-coach) wants me, I’ll do it.”

In January of this year Marco van Basten and Van Nistelrooy tried to patch things up during a meeting in Madrid. After that meeting, Ruud decided to not come back. Yet. He still missed warmth and confidence. Now Ruud is showing top form at Madrid, he seems to be opening the door for Marco to call him.
