Ruud to Newcastle?

March 16th, 2006 | By: Matt | 6 Comments »

Ok let me just remind everyone that you heard it on worldcupblog.org first. I few blogs back I made a hopeful claim for the Dutch striker to join Newcastle after his bust-up with Sir. Alex. And yes folks, wishes can come true.

With Ruud van Nistelrooy and Owen up front, who could doubt Newcastle. Perhaps silverware a St. James’s isn’t out of the question. Ruud would certainly give Owen a good reason to stay, and give Martin O’Neill a reason to come to Tyneside.

Rumor has is Ruudy is going for about 10 million pounds. At that price who wouldn’t pick him up. So all you magpies, fingers crossed for Ruud.

I can’t believe that. I just can’t. I just don’t know why Sir Alex would let Ruud go. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Sir Alex has a lot of talented youth on his side. Maybe this will clear up the budget for United to chase a midfielder or two. Which they desperately need.
That said, I hear ya mike. It is hard to get rid of such a productive forward.

I totally agree with you guys. I mean he is 2 goals shy of 150 for United! That is an awesome record. Louis Saha is talented but he is no RVN! I actually like when they play RVN, Rooney, and Saha together. That is an impressive combo. I would like to see United bring back Beckham to help sovle his midfield crisis in the summer, play him centrally, he is getting older could provide United with a lift. Also he should not have gotten rid of Phil Neville.

Nicholas,

I think you are right about Phill Neville, but I wouldn’t hold your breath over Beckham. Apparently Becks and Fergie didn’t part ways on speaking terms. I’d be surprised to see him return.
It should be interesting for United in regards to van Nistelrooy. The World Cup could change his value. I wonder if they will wait untill after the summer and gamble on his performance. If he tears it up in Germany they could get a lot more for him on the transfer market.

I think getting rid of RVN would a very, very bad move for Sir Alex! He should put him back in the side and let him play so he can get ready for the world cup. Any thoughts this was just a way to get him a couple of weeks off to rest ahead of the world cup?

I doubt it. Ruud seemed pretty angry after the Carling Cup and the Wigan match. Unless he and Sir Alex are pulling one over all of us.

I think Fergie has lost the plot. Hopefully someone at Man U will set him straight. Otherwise 10mil for van Nistelrooy is a hell of a deal.
