Ruud focused on Germany, not AC Milan
Ruud van Niselrooy joins the list of Premier League strikers with transfer rumors. The Dutch striker has been linked with AC Milan after being benched for the Carling Cup Final. According to football.co.uk van Nistelrooy denies the rumors and is thinking of nothing but Germany.
Good news for Holland. With Manchester United out of every competition there is little else to focus on. But, one must wonder: If I was in Ruud’s horse-hoof-like shoes; where would I be trotting off to after the World Cup? With so many teams shopping and so many strikers being poached, there is a tremendous opportunity for a world class striker on the move.
Ruud claims he has not considered leaving Manchester. Fair enough. We will consider it for you. Let’s see if we can’t play matchmaker.
AC Milan: Rummored to be shopping but I’m not sure if Ruud is their guy. With Shevchenko (29), Inzaghi (32), and Amoroso (31) I can’t imagine why they would want a 29 year old van Nistelrooy. Don’t get me wrong, Ruud still has 3–4 good years left; but AC milan should really be investing in younger players.
Arsenal: Of course it would cause an uproar, the tabloids would go crazy, and Old Trafford would be a living nightmare for Ruud. However, should Henry leave the Gunners, Arsenal would have a spot to fill and the cash to do it. It would be great to see van Nistelrooy and van Persie up front together. Highly unlikely, but worth a thought.
Liverpool: Again, England goes mental. But Ruud would be the answer to Liverpool’s prayers should St. Michael Owen not return. Liverpool need a finisher and are certainly shopping. Liverpool look like a team moving in the right direction. Man U look like they have a rebuilding year or two ahead.
Barcelona: If Barcelona fail to snag Henry, van Nistelrooy would be a great second choice. Barcelona would offer Ruud a shot at a Champions League victory. Barcelonal also have Ronaldinho. I’d go to Sunderland if they had Ronaldinho.
Chelsea/Real Madrid: Let’s face it both clubs are always buying and a move to either would drive Man U supporters insane.
So come on Oranje faithful, let’s find Ruudy a new home. Any suggestion will do. Hell, I suggested Liverpool and Arsenal.
