Ruud: 1 more goal for Gold!!!

With one more game to go, Ruud only needs one goals to be crowned the Top Scorer Of Europe in the ESM Golden Shoe (boot?) ranking. Francesco Totti is the leader, but he must feel Ruud’s breath in his neck… (Dutch saying…).

Ruud van Gol scored twice against Real Zaragoza last Saturday. The first one was a header, the second (in the last minute) a typical Van Nistelrooy situation. Like a predator he jumped to the chance when Zaragoza’s goalie dropped the ball. This season, Ruud scored 25 times in the Primera Division. In the last seven games he scored 10 times and contributed hugely to Real’s re-birth.

If Ruud scores once against Real Mallorca next weekend, then Totti and Van Nistelrooy will both with the prestigious award. If he scores twice (or more) he wins the shoe all by himself. In ‘99/’00 he grabbed the Silver Shoe behind Mario Jardel.
