Roy Makaay: my future is with Feyenoord!

Unless something weird happens, Roy Makaay will end his career at Feyenoord. “This is why I came back to Holland, after ten years abroad.” Makaay still has good hopes on a good end of this season.
The optimism of Makaay is fed by Jon Dahl Tomasson’s return into the team. Tomasson was injured for a long time and right when he got back, he fell ill with a serious bout of flu. Today, the Dane is back in the team. “Tomasson is important for me, yeah, but also for the team. He is the ideal number 10. When he signed I knew, this could be good. But due to all sorts of reasons, we only played 5 games together.”
Makaay felt like a deserted island without the former AC Milan man. “Everyone knows what I can and can’t do. Opponents would make their precautions. Two markers close to me and the holding midfielder always keeping an eye out. With Jon Dahl, the opponents will have to make a decision. And Jon watches me constantly. When I come “into” the ball, Jon will over take me. He’s not a striker and not a midfielder. He’s unique like that.”
Makaay calls the 2-0 defeat against Ajax an incident. “Listen, we missed Gio, Hofland and Tomasson. I sometimes feel I’m playing in the juniors with all those 18 year olds… It’s great for the club, all these young talents, but it’s too much sometimes. Luckily, we’re getting some experience back soon.”
And Feyenoord hopes to be able to make something out of this disastrous season. “I always said I didn’t like those play-offs, but now it could help us enormously.”
Makaay has his eye further on the horizon. The striker’s son is the goalkeeper in the F-youth of Feyenoord and speculates on a youth coach career. “I spend a lot of time among the youth, checking out my kid. I like it. I can see myself coaching the A-youth. I would like to work here, when I’m done playing…”
For now, it’s goals the fans want. His contract continues till 2010. “I won’t leave because of one lousy season. That’s not me. I didn’t come back to Holland to flee to some other country when it doesn’t work out. I like it here, a lot. And so does my family.”
Makaay also expects a lot from Mario Been and Leo Beenhakker. “I am excited about next season. I’d love to work with Mario. I am and always will be a Vitesse fan, but he doesn’t do too bad with that other club (NEC and Vitesse are serious rivals). I hear very positive things about him. And I worked with Leo before, at Vitesse. A great choice to get him back. And it’s good that the rumors have died down a bit. Now, we’ll focus on winning games.”

dirk kuyt scored another crucial goal for liverpool, nigel de jong apparently played well. Kuyt fans don’t get to excited sounds like and player could have scored it

Roy is right… he’s surrounded by a junior team

I think Roy could be a decent supersub… but he’s over the hill and if Feyenoord wants to get anywhere near the title next year, they need to find something else.

Tiju, I wonder what happened to Castelen dude. This guy plays very well and I think he is an option as right winger but apparently he is not playing much in Germany, is he injured or what???. His statistics in Germany are very poor. What happened to this guy?

when does oranje B play next?

Eredivisie update
Vitesse – Roda JC ; 3-0 ; Roda have totally lost it, dont think they won a single game in the last 7 games.. with the club almost broke these are bad times for the Limburg football fan
Heerenveen – Willem II ; 3-1 ; Heerenveen keeps getting better and better this season, the manager looks like he knows what hes doing..Berens played very good
Heracles – AZ ; 0-2 ; pretty difficult game for vGaals men, always hard to play on these ‘fake grass’ pitches..AZ looks like the champions, they play like champions and they will be champions
Den Haag – NAC ; 1-1 ; not a bad game for Den Haag .. played pretty decent, the Den Haag goal was made by Rick Hoogendorp, a beautiful freekick and his 100th goals in De Eredivisie
Fc Groningen – PSV ; 0-1 ; nice game to watch, PSV were a little lucky in the end to get the victory
Sparta – Fc Twente ; 1-2 ; Twente left in pretty late ; always hard to have a game in De Eredivisie after playing in Europe..in the end Twente had just too much quality not to win..Steve is starting to really impresse here in Holland
Fc Utrecht – NEC ; 0-2 ; first defeat for Fc Utrecht since vHanegem left the team, teribble game, didnt really deserve a winner but due to a huge blunder by Vorm NEC got the win
De Graafschap – Feyenoord ; 0-2 ; decent win for Feyenoord who seem to get a little more confidence each week..De Graafschap have a very bad run, they will be among the teams who will need to fight for survival
Ajax – Volendam ; 2-1 ; hard fought victory for vBasten against the worst team in Holland…maybe it was the game in Europe but they played without any inspiration..in the end Volendam was just not good enough to deserve anything
Standings:
1. AZ ; 60
2. Fc Twente ; 51
3. Ajax ; 48
4. PSV ; 45
5. Heerenveen ; 45
6. Fc Groningen ; 40
7. Fc Utrecht ; 37
8. NAC ; 36
9. NEC ; 35
10. Vitesse ; 29
11. Feyenoord ; 27
12. Willem II : 25
13. Sparta ; 24
14. Den Haag ; 23
15. Heracles ; 23
16. Roda JC ; 18
17. Graafschap ; 17
18. Volendam ; 15

Huntelaar is getting better and better

Apparently Maduro did well in the 1-1 draw of Valencia. I thought he played rightback of all places.
Makaay defenitaly over the hill, and in my view already in a canyon. I’d be surprised if he were to score more than 15 next season.
